Title purchased from Vudu gone- support give s a refund but no answer as to why????

So I assume that when I BUY a movie that I will get to keep that movie. Well not so fast Skippy! Apparently that is not the case. Some time in 2014 I purchased the move "The Slaughter Rule," watched it shortly after purchase, enjoyed it but never thought more about it. That was until a few weeks ago when I was talking to my Dad about indie films that I found interesting to watch. I did a search, nothing. Tried every device I could since I was told previously that SOME movies are not available on all platforms, but it was not to be found anywhere. SO I contacted support and asked what happened and could they fix it. Their answer was a refund without explanation.

Does anyone else find this odd? I find it not only odd, but cause for concern. With almost 2300 titles in my library, I might not notice if one goes missing. Shouldn't I be notified? After all this WAS a PURCHASE through Vudu, not a UV redemption. I have no idea if the title was UV or not, but I am guessing not since I can't find it in the UV library either.

I have chosen Vudu as my platform for all future redemption and viewing, and I would like to think that this is not a common occurrence, but it does make me wonder how often this happens.

I am hoping that one of the Vudu mods can provide a better understanding of this kind of problem.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the post.... that is interesting. Something to keep an eye on as I have some non UV titles and I have wondered if something like that could happen. I guess the good thing is you did get a refund and not completely SOL. I'll be disappointed to find a movie like Inside (French film) that I specifically purchased thru VUDU tampered with.

          Hi Fixter,

I was able to find your support ticket with customer care and have reviewed it. It appears that the agent who worked your case mishandled it unfortunately, for that I sincerely apologize. To clear things up for you and everyone else reading this thread, once you purchase a movie on Vudu, it stays on your account, even if the title is no longer available for rent/purchase (out of window). Like the previous post stated, movies that are out of window cannot be searched for. You would have to look for it under My Movies/My TV. I understand this can be a pain especially if you have a large library and hopefully we can come up with a better solution in the near future. The agent should have explained this to you. We will definitely make sure our agents are clear on this subject matter to prevent further confusion with our customers.

This is apparently not correct. I just searched my movies, and "Arthur" (The original one with Dudley Moore) is now gone from the list. What gives?

Correction: Arthur *does* show up on my Android tablet, but *not* on my Roku. Weird.

When a movie does not appear on your Roku but on other devices, that's because the Roku does not support the audio encode for that title. If you change the audio settings on your Roku and select HDMI > PCM-Stereo, those movies should now show up and can be viewed on your Roku. This is the only workaround at the moment.
