Hiding Out purchased HDX on VUDU but passing to UV as SD

    VUDU ticket 181231-001109
UV support ticket 1035627 (closed stating it is a VUDU issue)
UV support follow up ticket 1036058 (closed without any answer and forwarded to VUDU as ticket 190116-000005)

Purchased Hiding Out as HDX via D2D DVD to HDX. It imports to UV as SD. Turned in Help Desk ticket on VUDU, who suggested turning in UV Help Desk Ticket. UV sends me back to VUDU who sends me back to UV.

Would it be possible to have correct resolution HD pass to UV? If it is UV, can someone work with them to root cause it on their end. I've tried twice and they keep sending me back to VUDU.

    Thank you.

This is what the studio has designated for UV rights, this is out of Vudu's hands.

I appreciate the straight answer even though the answer is not what I had hoped. Would it be possible to check with the studio again to see if they will offer the correct resolution for UV rights?

I personally called Lionsgate and they told me that as a Customer, I have no way to reach any department there that handles licenses for UV content and VUDU would have to reach out. Hence the reason I've asked for further VUDU assistance.

FelipeF I truly appreciate the straight answer from you. My help desk tickets seem to get a variety of other answers from other support team members that don't match your explanation. After receiving your answer and calling Lionsgate myself, I am asking in those tickets if you guys can work with the studio to get a consistent license (on VUDU and ALID to pass to UV) before UV shuts down in July. I appreciate your help and support with all the issues you help solve. Thank you again.

This was one of my earliest vudu purchases years ago, and it made me wonder if all my UV purchases would show up as SD lol. So this title has always been this way.

Everyone should just be happy the movie is even viewable at all - there was a 1 to 2 year period where the HDX stream was removed and it rendered the film unplayable on some devices - just showed a playback error since it couldn't autoswitch to a lower available resolution..

I tried reaching out to Lionsgate to ask them to work with VUDU so the right license would flow into UV. They never replied via email. I was able to get in touch with them via phone yet they could only help with disc purchase issues or codes from disc issues.

I hoped to get VUDU and Lionsgate to work together to change this before UV shuts down.

I am not sure if VUDU also reached out. I hope they have and maybe it can be fixed in the next 5 days.

                  I admire your optimism!

I had similar hopes when I purchased the movie 5 or 6 years ago, but my hope has waned.

Even if it does get fixed, it most certainly won't apply retroactively to existing licenses.

I'm more concerned about the movies in my UV library that do not port in to vudu at all, or all the HD rights I have for movies that are only SD here on vudu.

I've reached out to all the studios and they all say "get vudu to help you with this issue!"

But we know vudu is aware of all these issues, and has been for many months, but can't fix anything without the studios approval and involvement. So it's really circular of each company pointing at each other to pass the responsibility. It's pretty frustrating as a consumer.
