Vudu To Go app on Mac OSX doesn't work with new upgrade

So, I was getting ready to see about converting some Blu-rays with the Vudu At Home D2D program. I launch my current version and I am informed by the program that there is a newer version and it asks me if I want to upgrade. I indicate "Sure". Then I get this message . . .

"The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid. Please contact the application author."

So, I restarted my Vudu to Go D2D program again. The program informs me that a newer version is available and do I want to upgrade. This time I say "No". Then I click on the "Disc to Digital" tab thinking I just won't upgrade at this time. Then I get this message:

"Please upgrade to the latest version of Vudu To Go to enjoy In-Home Disc to Digital Conversion. You can download the latest version . . . here."

So, I click on that link. My computer proceeds to download the program. I double click on the program and it launches and I get:

"The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid. Please contact the application author."

I guess I won't be doing any D2D conversion today. Thanks.

So, the OSX D2D Upgrade version does not work, so I am thinking I'll just Bootcamp this and do it from the PC side. I restart and reboot to the PC side, launch Vudu To Go, and the program informs me a new version is available and do I want to update. I say "Sure" and it downloads the 2.1.8 upgrade and installs it. I launch the new version and it is running fine.

I login to my account and I put in the 1st Blu-ray "The Way Way Back" to convert to digital and get the message:

"There is a problem identifying this disc . . . " Oh boy.

I put in the 2nd Blu-ray "Southpaw" and it asks me to select the correct the movie out of like 4 or 5 versions. I select one of the Blu-ray versions and hit the enter button.

The program tells me to take the Blu-ray to Walmart to convert it. Sigh.

I reboot back to the Mac side. I guess I won't be doing any D2D conversion today.

I'm having the same issue. It looks to be an Adobe Air problem, since the error comes up in the Adobe Air message box style.

I've gotten this far, but it's a bit too technical for me:

Try completely uninstalling the VuduToGo application (or just move it to the trash). Then reinstall by clicking on the VuduToGo DMG. That should work. If not, then go to Adobe's site and download the latest version of Adobe Air. Then try to install VuduToGo.

I was getting the same "certificate error". However, once I moved the VuduToGo app to the trash and started the install as a new install rather than an update, it worked fine.

        Hope that helps!

Hm. I seem to remember stuff like that happening when I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, because I restored from a backup instead of reinstalling applications. If I were you, I'd try uninstalling V2G and Adobe AIR, deleting all related files, libraries and directories, then reinstalling.

Oh, great, now this is happening to me with the new version of VuduToGo. However, I have definitely not upgraded the OS for many months now.

Well, I was able to fix it, thanks in part to AppTrap (OSX). When I tried to upgrade, AppTrap asked me if I wanted to keep the library files were for VuduToGo, so I deleted the app, went to /Users/max/Library/Preferences/com.vudu.air.Downloader/Local Store, and moved vuduToGolocalConfig.js.crt, vuduToGolocalConfig.js, appState.xml.crt, and appState.xml into a temporary folder. I was then able to install the update, which created new versions of those files. Unfortunately, this removed all icons from the My Downloads tab, even though I could still see the content folders in /Users/max/Library/Preferences/com.vudu.air.Downloader/Local Store. But, good news! I copied back appState.xml.crt and appState.xml, and my movies were showing up again!

tl;dr version: delete/uninstall the app, then delete vuduToGolocalConfig.js.crt (and maybe vuduToGolocalConfig.js), then install, and you should be fine.
