vudu to go app and poor customer service from vudu

    vudu to go app and poor customer service from vudu

    I've been trying to get this resolved for ages. vudu responded with answers not even pertaining to the problem presented. then for a month has not responded to any follow ups.

    here's the problem. I was using the vudu to go app to download a hard copy of everything in my collections i didn't already have some form of hard copy of.

    i downloaded probably about 250-300 gigs of stuff, this is not something small and quick to redo.

    then when to do some more one day and all of my prior downloaded stuff was gone.

    still located in the downloaded folder so its like what the hell even reclicking on them is a pain in the butt because vudu can't store them with name on the first folder and just going through everything would be very time consuming.

    but i tired about 50 of the titles that way. 4 went to downloaded right away the other 46 wanted to redownload. they already was in the downloaded folder but wanted to re download thats just insane.

    and then when i emailed their customer service i get questions not even related to the vudu to go app and then no response from follow ups for a month. still unresolved.

    I don't think anyone will be able to help you. Something happened with your program, its either a sporadic glitch related to your computer, or a program bug.

    As an aside, honestly, I think it is a waste of time to download all those files. They are not transportable to another device and cannot be converted to another format. I used to do things like that but gave up, not worth the effort.

      Those downloads are keyed to your hardware and the current software's authentication method. A change to your hardware, your OS or a Vudu update can invalidate those downloads and you'll have to grab them all again.

      Unfortunately, there's nothing you or any Vudu employee can do about it. It's just the nature of the DRM beast, but without that you'd have no legal method of downloading from a major studio, at least. What you're looking for is Common File Format (CFF), but that initiative is basically dead.

        Everything I have read leads me to believe that vudu downloads are temporary, and not meant for permanent storage.

        Any attempt to download your entire collection will just be an exercise in frustration since everything can be wiped out with no notice.
