    Error 5000 and 1:203

I'm getting error 5000 when I try to stream movies on the web. I've tried 3 different browsers, and temporarily disabled my antivirus all to no avail. I tried to use the Vudu app on my Sony bluray player and got the error 1:203. I'm iin the US and don't use a VPN. I've already started a support email/ticket online a few days ago, but I don't think it's been looked at by support yet. Does anyone know how to fix these errors? I don't have any problems with Flixster, Netflix, etc, but some of my titles are Vudu only and my bluray player doesn't have a Flixster app.

Did you ever get your problem fixed?

I'm having the same issues. I was talking with someone at Vudu's tech support. Set-up a dedicated port forwarding for vudu and flash and still cannot watch movies.

          Re: Error 5000

I have been getting this same error on all my mobile units. I have tried logging out and logging back in with no success. Is there a fix for this? I haven't found anything as or yet.

            Re: Error 5000 and 1:203

Nope..... Still not working. I've tried other places like Amazon and CinemaNow with NO PROBLEMS. VUDU has basically gone dark on this issue.

I think we're about to be SOL on any money we paid them for online access to movies. Like the recent StarWars. I bought it here and can't access it anywhere else. I'm going back to DVD's. I got burned on the online thing by Blockbuster so I shoulda learned my lesson. I'm wondering if I can get my money back from VUDU seeing as though I can't access my purchases?

If you're using a proxy, tor node, or VPN then this will definitely cause this issue as well. Public WiFi connections are not recommended as well.

I'm not using any of those things. I'm at home, on my own network! I've set-up the static IP, I've dedicated the Port-Forwarding to VUDU and Flash and nothing.......

I'm the original poster and I've never have gotten the problem fixed either. The support ticket people finally sent me instructions for something that didn't work (and they admittedly said it probably wouldn't as I've encountered the problem on all of my devices including my bluray player) and only redirected me to call the number if that didn't work. Honestly I just hate calling on the phone, so I've been putting it off and nothing's gotten resolved. No VPN usage here either.

                    Hello AgentPeggyCarter,

You might not be using a proxy but your public IP address that is provided by your ISP may be flagged as using a proxy. This could be a result of the IP previously being used in a way that would cause the ISP to proxy the IP so that performance is improved.

I can look up if this is the case by looking at the logs of your device. Please PM me your email address that you use to login to VUDU.

                    Thanks,
                    Tam

                      Solution!
I had this same error code 5000 pop up when trying to watch movies on my laptop. It also said it couldn't connect. I tried Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. I could watch Vudu trailers, Youtube videos, and new videos, but no Vudu movies. After an hour of failed attempts to resolved the issue with a Vudu tech, we escalated it to a Vudu Engineer. I'm still waiting for a response from the engineering department. However, I decided to keep trying. Although the Vudu tech and I tried inactivating certain features with my anti-virus program and firewall (with no success) I finally found the problem. In my Kaspersky 2016 Internet Security> Settings>Additional>Network>Encrypted Connections Scanning, my selected choice was set to "Always scan encrypted connections". I changed this to "Scan encrypted connections upon request from protection components" and the Vudu movie played. So, Vudu movies sends something encrypted that the antivirus doesn't like and prevents Vudu to getting through. This change allowed the movies to play on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. There is another Kaspersky encryption setting, "Do not scan encrypted connections", but it's not recommended by Kaspersky (via pop up box). If you use another antivirus program you might search for encryption settings. If your antivirus program extends to cloud and devices (Apple, Android, Kindle, Roku, Apple TV, bluray, or smart TVs), this could resolve issues with your device not playing Vudu movies. I'm not familiar with other antivirus programs but it's possible some only provide one encryption setting. If this is the case, there may not be any way to watch Vudu movies until Vudu changes their encryption. Hope this helps.
