Pacific Rim UHD Judder on LG

I haven't been able to watch Pacific Rim in UHD HDR on my LG 55UH8500. The problem is with the judder every few seconds. I've tried using the True Motion options on the tv, but it doesn't change anything. Sometimes the app reboots itself after mentioning a memory issue. The internet connection tests fine and there is no judder if I watch on a Roku 4, but it doesn't look nearly as good without HDR/Dolby Vision.

Is there a problem with either the LG Vudu app or Pacific Rim in Dolby Vision?

    Hello Capnsharpe

Let me check it out Pacific Rim and the UH8500 and will get back to you. Can you list your video settings for me.

As for the memory issue this is a known issue and we are working with LG to find a resolution to the bug.

    Thanks,
    Tam

I have noticed True Motion (which is basically motion interpolation, i.e. making up extra frames that don't really exist) can cause judder (rarely fixes it). You might try turning off most/all of the "digital enhancements" to see if that helps.

        Hello Capnsharpe

Can you also tell me the Software version your TV is on and the VUDU app version you are currently using.

        Thanks,
        Tam

          Hello Capnsharpe

I also see the judder with Pacific Rim and have asked LG to investigate.

          Thanks,

              Hello RickDA,

LG has not deployed the FW with the fix yet. Last I heard from them it will be sometime this month, but was not given a solid date. If I get more info about this I will pass it along

              Thanks

                  Hello Ultraflexed

LG has said that Dolby VIVID should be used as the Pic Setting when watching VUDU UHD content when Judders are observed. Dolby VIVID was actually optimized for VUDU UHD when Judders are observed.

Since this is a user setting, the user has to switch between the different Pic settings. VUDU is asking LG is this can be set automatically when different resolutions are playing or if the other Pic Settings can also be optimized. LG has not come back with an answer yet.

Will Pass along any more info I get on this.

                  Thanks,
                  Tam

This is not acceptable. The vivid picture mode provides an inferior picture quality to the other two modes (bright and dark). Hope an update can be provided soon to correctly fix this issue.

Seems the latest LG Firmware update (04.30.04) fixes this issue.
