VUDU and Samsung - UHD not available

I dont know if this is resolved yet, it is kind of a big deal, I would think.

Anybody know where we are on this?

To recap, if you use your Samsung TV VUDU app you will not see UHD movies as options. If you use ROKU or some other access point you will, or at least I do with my ROKU 4.

It is under development. Since it is requiring changes to Samsung firmware and the VUDU app, we can't provide an exact date, but it is a priority for both companies.

      OK, good to know.

If we ultimately will have to delete the VUDU app and add it back, that is gonna be another problem, I tried that and couldnt when this whole debacle started.

Hopefully Samsung support will be able to walk us thru it at that time.

It seems like this thread has not been updated for almost 3 months. Are there any updates?

        Thanks

Would love to get an update on this as well. I see on Samsung's site - they claim the Vudu app was updated on 12/14/16. Was this the UHD update?

My TV refuses to update the app - it's stuck on the 6.0.0 release from 11/09/16.

It doesn't appear to be the UHD update...at least for me. However, it is better as it was the only app on my tv that was constantly disconnecting and crashing. It was always saying I had insufficient speed, even though it was 100 down. It has worked fine since.

Did you actually get it to update on your TV? I've tried reinstalling with no luck. Always get the 6.0.0 version.

I would like a widget version for my Samsung 4K UN65JS9000FXZA what supports UHD and Dolby Atmos please.

The current widget version is 6.0.0 (170994) and does not allow UHD and Dolby Atmos. I have a 4K Roku Ultra (model 4640) software version 7.5.1 build 4095-29 and I can play UHD but only in Bitstream/PCM mode.

Are you running Roku into your TV and back out to an AVR? If you are able to run Roku directly through AVR, you can get Dolby Atmos (or DD+).

My vudu app will not play any movies on my samsung tv. Just started 2 days ago. And hacksaw ridge starts pixelating and the audio cuts out. My internet connection is excellent. Is this a problem with vudu? PM me if anyone has a solution. And dr strange wouldn't play. What am I paying for again?

No, I have the Samsung One connect box so I was using ARC from the AVR(HDMI4 on One Connect) to Roku (HDMI3 on One Connect). The AVR (HW-K850) is using HMDI1 back to the One connect box (HDMI4)

                      I have since:

                      1) connected Roku Ultra directly to the AVR on HDMI2.
                      2) turned UHD Color Off on the HDMI4 on the One Connect
                      3) Set the Ruko box to [4K UHD TV] (was 4K UHD HDR TV).
                      4) Audio mode is Auto on the Ruko.
                      5) Samsung UN65KS9000 (JS model typo earlier) audio [Expert Settings] HDMI Audio Format = Bitstream

Now I'm playing Mad Maxx in Dolby Atmos.

However, when I switch movies like to San Andreas, I have to power cycle the AVR each time and get the HDCP 2.2 error occasionally.

So there are some compatibility issues, so hoping firmware updates down the road will correct.

Re: VUDU and Samsung - UHD not available

Is there any update on the status of the Samsung SmartHub app that support UHD and HDR, etc. from that posted several months ago? The Netflix and Amazon Video apps on the applicable Samsung UHD models were updated starting in late December 2016 to support not only UHD (they always did) but also HDR.

Vudu Engineering: Can you provide the current plans for the Vudu SmartHub app, please?
