The Professional (Extended) no longer plays on Roku

The Professional (Extended), title #703366 no longer plays on Roku, both on the Vudu app and on the Roku/Vudu movie store. When selected, the app shuts down and kicks me out to the Roku home screen. When trying to play on the movie store, I get the error: "Unable to start playback. Please try again later, or contact Vudu customer care for help."

FelipeF I tried troubleshooting this on the phone with customer service for over an hour and got nowhere. She told me that I will need to contact my ISP to get this one title to play? Really?

Let me see if I can duplicate this issue and report it to the content team. Sounds like something I've encountered before. Stand by.

If it helps, I am using a Roku Streaming Stick 4K and I have 4K rights to this title, but Vudu (still) has not upgraded this to 4K, even though Vudu shows I own this in 4K.

Nothing to report back on at this moment. I'm pushing this again to see where it goes.

It seems isolated to Roku. It plays fine on the Vudu app on both Firestick and Apple TV devices.

I have theatrical in UHD and extended in HDX and both play fine. No issues.

That said I’ve been having the same issue with other titles. I go to play them and Vudu just crashes back to the main Roku screen.

I figured it was just a server bump and we to play other stuff. But it’s happening on more titles.

Software update, system reboot; nothing helps.

Running various versions of Roku Ultra.

FelipeF With these growing issues and older issues not getting resolved, Vudu is driving customers to other retailers. I no longer redeem Paramount and Lionsgate titles on Vudu, and redeem on iTunes for two reasons:

                  1. The Apple TV app is much more stable on Roku devices than Vudu has been lately
                  2. Apple gives me the movies in 4K regardless if I purchased a Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray.

This seems to be an error in the new app. I routinely have issues where I click on a title to play and it just kicks back to the home screen. Last night Mall Rats wouldn't play on any of my Roku's but would play in the Vudu iPhone and Apple TV apps no problem.

I've seen this issue constantly come up with various titles since the new app was launched.

FelipeF It looks like it is not consistent with titles and users, either. Mallrats played just fine on my Roku app. Phone support is useless - "We do not see the issue on our end, so it must be your equipment or internet provider."

These problems titles (and only random titles) work fine on every device and application; as well as only my home WiFi and mobile hotspot - EXCEPT the Roku running the new Vudu app.

So it eliminates the streaming device and internet provider. It's not on the user side.

This is an app issue most likely, or possibly Vudu's servers.

Problem titles play fine on Vudu app on non-Roku platforms. They also play fine on other apps on the same Roku (assuming MA title) or even other devices.

FelipeF This fix really needs to be a major priority.

Looks like my particular title issue has been resolved when Vudu FINALLY got this title in UHD...
