First off, the specs:
Moto Z Droid
Android 7.0 (Nougat)
Verizon
Good day to you all, I'm posting for an issue I'm running into with playing content from the above device. Here's a rundown of what is happening:
Open VUDU App > Go to My Movies > Select movie
This opens the "movie summary screen" with the options to [Download (HDX/SD)], [Rent (HDX/SD)], [Watch (HDX/SD)], or [UV Redeem].
If I click [Watch HDX/SD] (no difference in outcome between the two), the player launches with a picture of the movie cover and four rotating blue dots which I'm assuming indicate that the film is buffering. After about 5 seconds it automatically returns to the "movie summary screen". It is not the connection as I am running 20+ Mbps download and no other service has any issue with running streaming video.
If I click Download HDX/SD (no difference in outcome between the two), the download bar appears at the top of the screen. It downloads the movie, but then when I try to watch it, the same situation occurs as above when the player opens. This would indicate to me that it is an issue with the player.
Basically, anytime the player starts, it buffers for a few seconds and then returns to the "movie summary screen". This is the same for TV shows, non-owned movies (i.e.; the Movies On Us), etc. There is never an error code received (which on a side note, not including error checking seems like a gross oversight on VUDU's part).
What I've tried:
Restarting the phone
Restarting the internet connection
Uninstalling and reinstalling the application
Force stopping all other non-system running applications
So far nothing has worked. It worked flawlessly on my old Samsung S7 (it's destroyed, hence the new phone). Is there a known incompatibility with Android 7.0? Is it being addressed?
Any ideas?
Thank you!
