Have you modified your MiBox in anyway? Maybe installed a custom ROM or rooted the device?

I have not- the device is stock.

The pre-loaded app would not even launch. This version will launch and allow me to sign in to my account.

When I play a free movie the advertisement plays fine but as soon as the movie begins after the first frame or two the stream stops and displays the error.

I am on that version, my MiBox has received and updated to Android 8.0 and I even factory reset the device after the update.

Still no change and the problem persists...

I just updated my MiBox to Oreo as well. I'm not having any playback issues.

Well unfortunately I am not able to enjoy the same results.

I don't really know what else to say other than I'm experiencing the same issues as the other users and I want to be able to natively playback the content I have paid for.

I've tried contacting support, it leads to a circle of responses with constant requests for IP addresses, traceroutes and other useless requests since it's not a connection issue. It is almost comical how poor the support was. The next response would ask for traceroutes and items I literally supplied in the last message. This went on for over a week.

Does VUDU use any type of DRM for the streams similar to what Netflix uses?

You cannot use a VPN/Proxy with Vudu if that is what you mean by DRM. I'm going to have to agree with the customer care team that this does seem like a connection issue of some kind. You happen to have the ticket number so I can see the case notes?

I can stream content on two Android phones, an Android Tablet, an ipad, a MacBook Air, a PC and two Chromecasts...

It's not a connection problem. I don't really know how to make that any more clear. I can cast from any device to the MiBox and the stream will play. But using the native AndroidTV app has the issue.

DRM deals with copyright protection and has nothing to do with a VPN or Proxy.

Just a heads up, I was inquiring about the DRM possibility because the Netflix App will not play videos while using certain HDMI cables. The cables are not providing the pass through for what ever handshake protocol they are using between the box and the TV.

                              So how about that update.
