    Explanation of Sharing

    So,

I originally saw that there was this "Share your library" option on the UltraViolet page of the account settings. I started to try to do this with my sister, thinking I'd share with her and she would share with me. Until I read some of the information that was provided after we sent the "invites" to each other. By way of the language this does not seem to be "sharing" but more of a complete "merger".

Is there a way to share my library with another user but where our individual libraries remain autonomous. I can still add to mine, she can still add to hers, and we can separate at any time retaining our individual digital movie rights? The way it seemed to be described is that our two libraries would become one forever.

    Please Advise.

    Thanks

    Re: Explanation of Sharing

No it's more of a merger. I have five family members shared with my account but that is a good thing when you think about it. Anytime a family member adds a UV enabled movie to their account it gets added to my account and all the other accounts that are shared. Granted I have a few family members who are lazy and never add any movies as the expect me and my nephew (the only one who ever adds movies and tv series besides me). Granted my nephew adds movies I would never add EVER but I figure maybe other family members would like what he adds. Now the only ones that you can add to your account that don't get shared are those that are not UV enabled like any Disney or most MGM titles. You can add them but your sister will never see them in her collection. It's the same with TV series. I added the entire Person of Interest series which is UV enabled so my entire family sees them also but I also added the entire X-Files series which is not UV enabled so only I see them. My nephew has added all five seasons of Game of Thrones and all the seasons of The Walking Dead and since they are UV enabled I get to enjoy them also.

Once a family member adds a title you cannot have it removed from your account only your sister or family member who added the title would be able to remove it. So in my case my nephew can't remove my gory action packed movies and I sadly cannot remove his art house films but figure our collection is over 2,300 movies in just a couple of years time and my entire family can enjoy our movies but sadly my family can't enjoy the 300 or so Disney and MGM titles I also own.
