VUDU audio issue on my Roku

This is a problem I've had for a while now, but I was always able to fix it before. Occasionally on my Roku I would start watching a movie in my VUDU library and there would be no sound. Before I would restart the Roku and that would usually fix the problem, but now I've been trying to watch the original Paranormal Activity and there is no sound. I've restarted the Roku multiple times now but no luck. I haven't checked every movie in my library for sound but I've tried enough to believe it's only this particular movie with the issue.

    It's the Roku Premiere Plus.

Has anyone else had an issue with movies having no sound on their Roku? Thanks.

Are you using a A/V receiver by chance? How is your Roku connected to your TV?

I started having a similar issue with my Roku Ultra using headphones. Doesn?t matter if I use the Roku remote headphone jack or the Roku app on the iPhone. No sound in Vudu. But if I restart the Roku then I get sound.

Does this happen with other apps when using the headphones? This doesn't sound like a Vudu issue (especially since a reboot fixes it), though we will try to reproduce it to verify.

Seems more like a Roku issue as well but since it's only in Vudu and not other apps it's confusing.

Roku firmware releases aren't the most stable things though so who knows.

The Roku is connected with an HDMI cable. I realized if I changed the Roku audio setting from Dolby D+ to Stereo I get audio on Paranormal Activity. I thought perhaps it was because I only own the SD version of that movie but I checked all the other SD movies I own and they worked fine with it set to Dolby D+. So it must be an issue with that one particular movie. Very strange.

We have not been able to reproduce it yet with a Roku here. Best guess is some incompatibility with DD+ output of the Roku to your TV/receiver, but it's strange that it would only be for this one movie, as it's standard DD+ 5.1 (note, when you choose "stereo" it switches to an AAC 2.0 stream - which is actually Dolby Pro Logic surround if you have a receiver that supports it...)

What TV and/or receiver model is the Roku connected to?
