    LG BD390 + wireless

I have a new LG BD390 and have it connected, wireless to a Linksys Broadband router (Wireless "G" 2.4 GHz). My download speed is 15.49 Mbps.

I find that when I turn on my BD 390 it says that my system is "disconnected". It can't find my wireless connection.

However, if I turn off my laptop computer and re-boot the 390 it all come up and work as well or better than expected.

Anyone else have this issue? Maybe you can not have another wireless device on at the same time?

    Thanks,

    JimP

    Re: LG BD390 + wireless

I orginally had my BD390 connected wirelessly and didn't experiance anything like you stated. I was able to stream from VUDU and Youtube with no problems while other devices were accessing the network wirelessly. You may want to also post a question to the LG support group:

      Ron,

Thank you for the note. I contacted LG and they told me it was my router settings. I don't know how this could be as some times it works and sometimes not. Now I find that it doesn't even work (sometimes) with the laptop off. Jeez, what did I get into?

      Thanks again,

      Jim

        Re: LG BD390 + wireless

Just a quick question on your Linksys router. Are you running their firmware or 3rd party like DD-WRT or Tomato? Have you tweeked any of the wireless settings?

          Ron,

Thanks again, I really appreciate any help you can lend..

I have done nothing to the router. It appears to me that there is really nothing one can do to the router. It looks like you plug it in, connect the modem, put up the ears and away you go.

I may be wrong, but that really is as much as I know about this stuff. Maybe something I can do in the software???

I may have gotten in over my head but I am determined to get this thing right.

          Thanks again,

          Jim

            Re: LG BD390 + wireless

            Jim,

It sounds like your router may be malfunctioning. You might want to check that your router is not set to "Bridge" mode, as it sounds like you are only able to connect one device at a time. Also, what IP address is your laptop picking up - is it an internal IP address?

Your best bet will probably be to contact Linksys support, as they will have a better idea as to what is going on with your router/network:

              Re: LG BD390 + wireless

Thanks to all who responded and tried to help.

It would appear, from reading several other blogs discussing the BD390 that this may be a problem within the LG BD 390 unit.

It seems that this problem exists with a few other units. The largest one with reviews that helped is Amazon. Several one and two star reviews revealed the same issue.

I will, therefore, get onto an LG forum and see if I can get any joy from any of them.

Thanks agan to all who helped.

              Best regards,

              Jim

I have 5 WRT54GLs all Tomato-ed, and they work perfect with VOIP priority provisioning. Max bars on their internal radio display screens.

The internal radio in the BD390 is a POS.

You all likely have several ethernet devices near your TVs, so it makes sense from a security stdpoint to use bridgeable routers like the one above to extend network to TVs and devices near them around the trailer

I originally ran wireless with the BD390 for the first week until I could another cable run to the TV area. I have WDS set up on a different channel and was going to do that but cable is alway a sure bet with media.

I agree that the internal wireless on the BD390 is a POS. Just switched over to using a powerline adapter instead, things have been great so far (only had it 1 week). Now I get 3 green bars with VUDU HDX quality all the time! :-)
