    LG BD390 and network problem

Bought BD390 from Amazon. All content streams appear OK except VUDU. I can connect to VUDU and browse trailers, new movies, etc. However if I watch a video stream, once it is over, I cannot look at anything else. I get Network not connected. Actual error is:
Detail: Error code 28 Operation timeout
    Hardware ID: LG02BD3900E091A66FE0
    Device ID: 91284
    Software Version: 3.0.0-45219-BD390 1.65 (rev 10006M)
    =================
    My setup:
    Connection: Wired
    IP: Static
    Network Speed: 4.7 Mbs
    Router: Belkin F5D8231-4 v3000
Cable Modem: Webstar DPC2100R2 HW Rev 2.1
    ISP: Blue Ridge Cable
    =================
Does not appear to be time-related.
I can access Youtube after this happens with VUDU.
To access VUDU, I have to turn off BD390 and wait for a few minutes.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    TIA

    Hi Wizard,

I noticed that you have the IP set to static. Could you try dhcp for me and see if that makes a difference?

Yes I have tried DHCP and it does the same thing. I get only one stream and then the aforementioned error.

Re: LG BD390 and network problem

I may have discovered the problem. I changed to DNS settings in the BD390 to use the Google public DNS servers (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) and I was able to view numerous trailers without any errors.

I will be trying to stream a movie later. I will keep you posted.

        Thanks for your help.

          Wizard,

We actually do not recommend Google's DNS servers. Try 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 instead. Or run Google's Namebench application.

If you do decide to run Namebench, or any other benchmark utility, I recommend you clear your browser's history, then perform a download from here. It's a file off one of our content servers. Allow the download to happen and then discard the file after the download completes. We're only interested in creating a history of the connection. That way when Namebench runs, it'll do it for our servers.

By the way, during the download your browser will give you a pretty good indication of your network performance in regards to VUDU's servers. You may want to make note of that.

Re: LG BD390 and network problem

I am having a problem with my LG BD390 constant buffering, and can not view a HDX movie without this issue.

My down-load rate is 9803kbps (VUDU test).

            Belkin N+ Router, running wired.

            Any input appreciated.

            Thanks,

I'm have yet to watch a HDX movie without it having buffering issues. I have a LG BD390 as well and am wondering it there is an inherent problem with them. I am using Verizon Fios at 35/35. Please help.

              Thanks

Re: LG BD390 and network problem

Switched from the Google servers to the ones suggested by Jimmy. Went from one or two buffers during a HDX Movie, which while not ideal or what I'm paying for it is tolerable, to well over a dozen buffers a network crash and an abject refusal to allow me to continue to stream my movie in HDX despite 3 bars. It was just unwatchable muck. I've switched back to the Google servers.

My wife now says she will never watch anything on VUDU.

Since I started using Google DNS, I have not had any problems. Everything works as it should.

Typically the Error 28 time out code is issues with the firewall. If you place the IP address of the device in DMZ in your modem/router that may allow you to connect. If you need help doing this, call (888)554-VUDU.
