    HDX buffering with fat pipe

I have a Samsung BD-C6500 BD player, that has worked fine with Vudu and played HDX content with no problem previously. After either the last firmware update or Vudu client update (or both), I cannot play HDX without constant buffering, despite having a 30Mbps download connection (DOCSIS 3.0) with Comcast that bursts to 35Mbps.

I've seen some posts where changing the DNS settings is recommended. Not sure how that could make a difference, since the player can either resolve the correct host name at the beginning of the movie or not, right? Does the service use constantly changing host names during streaming that requires constant name resolution?

Can someone please comment on the DNS "fix" and explain to me why changing DNS servers would improve constant buffering? Also, why am I having problems 8 months after buying the BD player, when I've not had issues before? Any thoughts or ways to troubleshoot?

Re: HDX buffering with fat pipe

Some of the issues in the past were due to the DNS client in some routers not refreshing their cache of hosts. The DNS addresses for content changes based on the load of the hosts supporting the stream you are downloading. If your router doesn't keep this "fresh" then you may land on server or site that cannot support streaming you.

Now that we have that out of the way you may want to try configuring a static IP address and DNS in your player and then use say your ISP's DNS address vs. your router and see if that may clear up your issues. That would be the first step to try.
