    Very Disappointed

My wife and I watched our first VUDU movie tonight and the experience was very unsatisfactory. I'd be angry but the rental was free. We started watching the movie in HD and immediately started receiving network errors. This continued even after we switched to the SD feed.

I have a Samsung UN55C6900 which is connected wirelessly to our network and have never had any sort of streaming problems before tonight.

Needless to say, I won't rent again.

      Re: Very Disappointed

I'm having a problem tonight as well, so I suspect there is a server down somewhere. We were in the middle of a movie and lost the service. I checked my internet access, rebooted everything and the Netflix streamed fine on my Visio bluray player but the Vudu didn't. This is the fourth movie we've watch with the free trial and until tonight it has worked just great. My network is up and running just fine and my other devices are streaming movies no problem. It's just the Vudu that is not working. To bad there isn't a way to call this late to let them know. The movie is pretty good it's called "Red" so we'd like to see the rest of it.

I suggest you try again later. I've been streaming with Roku, and Tivo for quite some time now and they all have occasional problems.

I am having the same problem MeMag has. Vizio TV and blue-ray. It was working fine for a few weeks, and now I'm getting a "fail to connect to network" ---error code 28. I have no problem with Netflix and other applications. Vudu is not working now. Please advise as to a fix.

I also am having the same issue. We have been using Vudu for a couple of months with no issues. Now we are getting cannot connect. I have no issues streaming Netflix with HD quality. I have even done the speed test on my PC and it struggles to get above 1MB. We rented a movie last week and were unable to watch it. Any chance you can help me determine why?

                  Thanks

I have to say that I'm disappointed also. I've sent you trace route info and haven't heard back. A forum like this should be used to show others what has worked to fix problems, not as a place to say give me your email and I'll help you privately. Why the secrecy? Something's not right here and I really don't like having my time wasted.

                        Seven,

I apologize; my days out of the office are a little different than most people. I did not intentionally avoid your response. As for using PM's, i need to search for the users account and don't want them to have to post their email address' for the whole world to see. I agree we need to concentrate on posting the resolutions that customers have come too.

                          Re: Very Disappointed

I'm also experiencing issues. Tried to watch my first movie last night. I have a 10 Mbps internet connection hardwired to my tv. Watched many 2 minute previews in hdx with no issue.

Tried to rent my first movie, and recieved nothing but "unable to stream at this time" errors. Tested speed at speedtest.vudu.com last night - was 5mbps. Customer service says that might be too slow. So i tried this morning (off peak time for cable connections) - my speed test gave me 9.6 Mbps. Yet the Vudu service still gave me "Unable to stream at this time".

Netflix gives me no issues. Ever. So i tried to call customer service this morning. here i am 7:15 am Pacific time - and i get a message that they are closed. Their hours begin at 7 am - what?? Guess all reps are at least 15 minutes late...

I'll keep calling as I need a refund now.

                              Re: Very Disappointed

In an effort to help others experiencing this issue (i've read where people had connections as fast as 40mbps and still not able to stream without interruption). Here is an update.

I talked to customer service last night. Speed test gave 8.1 MPS through speedtest.vudu.com/cdn1 at 9pm (peak traffic time for cable). TV's speed test gave 9.2Mbps. Disabled the DMZ for the tv (other rep had asked me to try that). I forwarded ports 8100 - 8199 for the tv's IP. I changed the tv's network settings to use static IP and hardcoded the DNS to 4.2.2.2.

I tested I then tried to watch an HDX. Worked fine for about 1 minute - then buffering...bufferring, and more buffering. I switched down to HD. Still buffering..bufferring and more buffering.

I switched to watch a Netflix movie (no issues whatsoever) and went to bed.

Woke up this morning and figured i'd try again while i still had the rental. 7am - started movie while i got ready for work. It played flawlessly for 30 minutes in hdx before i had to leave for work.

                              So there are two possibilities:

                              1) The vudu software is VERY VERY intolerant of any flucuation in bandwidth or minor interruptions which could happen in the evenings on a cable connection. (Even though the slowest i have ever seen this conection go in the evenings is still above the minimum 4.5 mpbs and typically averages around 7-8 in the evenings, 9+ in off peak times).

                              or

                              2) I had to reboot my tv in order for the IP/DNS changes to take effect.

I will try again this evening (during peak cable traffic times) to determine which it is.

If it is #1 - i'll be giving up on VUDU.
