    Persistent Buffering and Time Outs

I have been using Vudu for about 6 months now and at first all was good... until about 3-4 weeks ago. I now get constant buffering. If I can detect a glitch and pause the video in time I can prevent the buffering (I asume it is just doing it in the background.) But I am only able to watch about 5-10 min of the movie before it does it again.

I have not made ANY changes to my network. Here is my network - ATT Elite package with 6Mbps; Motorola 2210 DSL Modem -> Linksys WRT300N running PPPoE [ports 1-3 PC's] -> Netgear N300 (provided by Sam Knows) -> Vizio Model#VBR120. The vizio player is connected via wire.

I know, if you look at the specs, the Netgear has better port speed than the Linksys so I should swap the two.

But all that aside I have purchased and rented movies that I was not able to fully enjoy as I had to keep pausing or waiting for it to buffer.

At one time I had all 3 green bars but now just one. I am using Open DNS as my DNS service with an average ping time of 62ms.

    I get a 139ms average ping time to vudu.com with 10 hops.

What else do you need to know to help me?

What has gone wrong with my vudu service? Is AT&T throttling me? Why has my enjoyment of vudu turned to doo-doo? (little rhyme there)

No really what is going on and how can I fix it?

Well I have not heard from you still...

I am awaiting a call as this is still an issue...

Buffering issues are still occurring. It seams to be worse on new releases than older movies.

        Thanks,
        Zevink

Re: Persistent Buffering and Time Outs

Ive been with VUDU since the beginning in 2008. I love my VUDU, but since the Walmart buyout, my service has suffered. I have a Super high speed connect with over 50Megs down and 6 Megs up, and I can't seem to get thru a single movie without a buffering issue. I originally owned a VUDU box, that died and went to a Blue Ray player that is hard wired to my router. When I get a test it shows I can watch movies that are HDX, but I have yet to be able to watch a full movied in HDX without 3-5 bufferings every 20 minutes. Even the movies that I own (that are HDX) cannot be streamed with a buffereing issue. In the past I never had a issue, and at that time i had a slower internet connection. Now that I have the best internet service money can buy, I still cannot watch a full movie without a buffering issue. My player also gives me this: Player Error, "Unabe to stream this move at the moment due to network error. Please try again a litle later" then I hit ok and the movie starts to play again. I am seriously getting fed up with now being able to watch a movie in its entirity!

We apologize for the inconvenience, please give us a call at (888)554-8838 so we can take a look at the problem. There may be some changes we can make that will help with buffering.

Re: Persistent Buffering and Time Outs

I'm still having the same problems. Vudu kindly renewed the promotional funds that I had spent trying to watch two movies here on my pc when it was buffering.

I called in, made some changes with tech support and it is still buffering. I can't watch two minutes of a movie without constant buffering. Awaiting a call back from Level 3 tech support. Looks like my speed is good, as is processor, memory, everything else, but for some reason according to the tech the content I'm trying to view is getting scrambled an extra step or two at the Vudu end.

Great service from the customer reps to the technicians but it would be nice to be able to use the service to it's potential and watch a movie.

Re: Persistent Buffering and Time Outs

I have been using Vudu for almost a year watching HDX (the reason I picked Vudu over other services). The last 6 weeks or so it has turned to crap. I have 50 mbps down 6 up service, speed is not my problem. Vudu buffering, timing out and total drops are my issue and getting worse. Affects HDX, hd, and sd now. Had to explain to my 4 year old why he can't finish the movie we're 3/4 thru. Fourth movie in as many weeks that I've paid for HDX price and either downgraded to HD or SD and now can't even finish it. What is the problem?

Well it seems I'm not alone and there's no help insight. Hopefully they will return money on purchases. Sucks you have to tell a 4 year old he can't finish his movie.

If you're encountering buffering, please call us at (888)554-VUDU. There are adjustments that we may be able to suggest to help remedy the buffering you're experiencing.

I too am now having problems that I did not before and nothing has changed on my end. I suggest you make some adjustments on your end (VUDU end) first before we mess with things on our end.

I have high speed internet, hard wired ethernet to the TV and BluRay and have full signal, but still many buffering problems. Maybe the VUDU system is overloaded with users and cannot handle it.
