    Samsung BD-D5500 buffering

I have a Samsung PN59D6500 Plasma TV and a Samsung BD-D5500 BD DVD player. I can watch HDX movies through VUDU fine on the TV App but it buffers when using the DVD App. I am using the same wired internet connection for both. Is this an issue with the D5500 not having enough on board memory? I think it only has 1GB. I have read that you can expand it with a USB drive but I have not figured out how to do it yet.

Make sure the USB key is wiped clean, there can't be any information on it.
-Your blu ray player should have a USB port on the front right of the player, there may be a little door you'll have to open.
-Plug in the USB key while the device is powered down.
-Power the device up and go into the menu
-Go to System and then Data management(this text might differ slightly).
-Select the USB key to host your memory.

      Re: Samsung BD-D5500 buffering

I have the same issue when streaming HDX. Steps I've taken have been..

      - Give Samsung BD-D5500 a static IP address
      - Put the Samsung in the DMZ of my router (outside firewall etc)
      - Installed a 2GB USB and set it up in Data Management

From What I can see the USB memory is only useful for BD-Live which has to do with extra content. So far none of these fixes has worked for me. It's better for a couple HDX trailers then starts buffering again. Pretty close to giving up on vudu HDX.

        Re: Samsung BD-D5500 buffering

I tried the USB drive with no success. I have tried a Sandisk Cruzer 4GB and 8GB drive and they are recognized by the player (it gives me the ability to eject it) but it has no effect on VUDU playback. All the settings are properly changed for BD management on the player also allowing for All BD-Live connections. I can pull the USB drive out during playback and it has no effect. Doesn't seem to be using it for buffering. Is it possible that only certain USB sticks work? Can not get VUDU to play an HDX without buffering constantly. Is it the Samsung player?

Don't know at this point. I certainly have the internet bandwidth and then some. Not much else to try but another player I suppose. Thing is, though this particular model isn't in the vudu list last years BD-C5550 is.

You can also try to change the DNS servers in your router to faster ones.....try DNS Benchmark(google it) to get the fastest servers in your area...Make sure your router itself does not act as the DNS server......I have my device behind the firewall, bypassing the internal DNS server of the router, connected to the fastest servers near me, and I have flawless streaming...Hope this helps, worth a shot if you didn't already do it...
