My linksys 150N is at it's default , QoS - MMS supported, whatever that means ..? I haven't changed any settings. Nothing unusual on my wireless netork, 2 tivos, 3 laptops, 1 slingbox - light usage usually ...

I tried speakeasy and dslreports today and it was eye-opening ...

First off, the vudu and speakeasy tests always give me 15K+ mbps and/or around 6mbps .... dslreports on the other hand really surprised .. the 1st test from the wireless bridge gave me 1.4 mbps! after that it varied quite a bit up to 6mbps. So dslreports seems more realistic.

I tried testing from different ports, ie. wired port on the router, across my N network from laptop and on the wireless g bridge to the vudu. much variation ... so I guess I need to talk to comcast

Oh wait - is the Vudu on a wireless bridge? That could be part of the problem...What happens if you leave it hardwired all the time?

Yep, wireless G bridge. Well, I don't know if I want to run a 50 ft cable down the hallway But I'll let you know. I'll keep testing the speed...

Hooked the vudu box up to my HD in the basement watched 300 via HDMI, very nice. Can't wait to see what true HD content looks like ...

How far is your router from your VUDU? You mentioned 50' for a cable. 50 feet shouldn't degrade the wireless G signal too much. Unless you have other competing wireless devices like phones and a microwave oven nearby. I know when my wife run the microwave and I my laptop in the kitchen my performance drops considerably.

One wouldn't think the G connection would degrade, but there's a lot of ways to screw up a 2.4 GHz signal very easily. For example, I have metal duct work running through my house that does a tremendous job of blocking my 2.4 GHz signals. I especially see it if I am trying to use my Bluetooth audio equipment...

So if he has some metal ductwork or something like that in the path between his router and his Vudu, it could very easily cause all sorts of problems with his link.

It's about 50 ft, straight down the hallway. I do have wireless phones, and the wireless adapter for my Tivo. Signal strength is only around 60% though ..and they have clear line of sight ... ?!

I was having the same problem when I was using a Wireless Bridge or Adapter. Sunday I bought a Wall-plugged Ethernet Bridge from Netgear the XE102. What a difference solid green all the way, I would even say I'm getting a better picture.

                        Hey MBustin,

Guess what. I checked my box tonight and saw yellow bandwidth as well. I don't have any QoS settings on the box and my cable connection is 8M/1M. And my internal network connection is hardwired.

So, methinks something is indeed funny...

I'm going to post a poll to see if anyone else is seeing this...

I had this happen once on one of my boxes. It finally went back to green when I rented a movie. I never figured it out and it hasn't happened since.

Wow - on a hardwired box! That would be nice if it was vudu's fault and not my network

The other night it was yellow, cleared the history and started a download. At first it only offered "watch later" and shortly after I was able to "watch now". The light turned green and has been so for a day. Usually, something happens overnight and I'll notice it being yellow in the morning. At this point I don't know how my network behaves or how vudu monitors it ... 99 % of the speed tests and are at 4Mbps or higher ...

One think to remember is that the "Green" means that the VUDU has absolute confidence that your network connection can be trusted to deliver an uninterrupted movie experience.

If it does turn yellow then the VUDU has detected that something happened in the network and it can't guarantee the instant movie experience.

There is a note in the FAQ and on the settings page that states that if you have change your network or ISP that you need to clear the network statistics on the VUDU so it can re-learn your network. If you don't it can take a day or two for it to trust your network.

I have a Roku box instead of Vudu but I have experienced the exact same problem with my roku box. My ISP is Comcast as well and ever since I've purchased additional boxes my bandwidth has gone way down to 0.5 MBps. It used to be around 6.0 or higher. I have been doing so much research figuring out what the problem could be, hence me stumbling upon Vudo, but I am getting very suspicious of Comcast as well.
