Taking vudu on a business trip

I have a long term business trip planned in the Far East soon, in a city with very good broadband access and peering with the US. Will the VUDU work if I connect it from there? Is there something technically I should be aware about? I don't need instant-play, just the ability to get content and watch it would be great.

Re: Taking vudu on a business trip

I don't know. Maybe someone from Vudu can come on and comment on if only US IP addresses are allowed on the system. They might have that restriction due to copyright and content distribution issues with the studios. It would not surprise me...

At the VERY least you can pre-load some content and take the box with you to watch it. You do NOT need to be connected to the net to watch content already on the box. Of course, your rental period is limited to 30 days so if your trip is longer than 30 days, you'd lose your content with no way to get it back.

Now, I wonder how it would work if you could create a VPN tunnel back to the US!

Re: Taking vudu on a business trip

The only way to make it work outside the United States is to pre-purchase/rent the movies at home and have the movies all downloaded before your trip. Then you can watch them wherever you want (you don't need a broadband connection to watch an already downloaded movie).

Boxes outside the United States can not connect to our service (we only have rights for the content here in the States).

Re: Taking vudu on a business trip

I have been able to get around some of these items, granted I have never tried it with the vudu,

but, using my vpn to the house, or to our corporate headquarters, I have been able to get itunes to work, and some foreign video streaming programs to work.

I wonder if one does a VPN to a US based server, if the vudu would work.
