Re: Buffering makes Vudu service unusable

I tried Vudu last night for the first time. Couldn't get the buffering to stop whether it was HDX, HD, or SD?
Rebooted my Roku box, tried it on Vieracast on my Blu-ray player. Same results.
Made a support ticket, but I doubt I will see my $5.99 again.
I have a 50mbp Comcast connection, and can stream Netflix 4K with no issues..
Guess my ISP is to blame also?
Its a shame, because HDX looks great on my 4K TV.

Pathping (not heard of this one) didn't return anything interesting so I ran a tracert too. Don't have time to stream anything at the moment. I have a graphical tracert tool (VisualRoute2010), I'll see if I can paste a screen shot here.

It looks like a pretty clean trace other than hop 6 (which is still on Verizon's network). The next time you buffer try running the trace again to see if anything changes.

Re: Buffering makes Vudu service unusable

I've noticed this as well as a new problem for me for the last couple of months. Unfortunately I have 50+ movies I have purchased in HD that I cannot stream anymore. TheThere doesn't seem to be any solutions on the thread from vudu other than we are looking into it. So, from now on I think my family will be buying them at the store from now on with the digitalk copy. That way if vudu is throttling at high traffic times, we can just pop in the disc. It's too bad really because it was such a grear concept. But I myself am not going to be throwing more money into content that might not be available if Vudu goes down when people get the idea that they don't have access to the things they purchased. Just my opinion.

                  Hi Kuechlea,

I'm sorry to hear about the streaming issues you've encountered with the service recently. Have you started a support case with our team as of yet? We would be happy to look into the issue if you haven't started the process yet. If you have, could you post your case number so we can take a look?

I am convinced this is a Vudo load issue during prime time. I proved to them that the problem was not my ISP and not my equipment. They stopped answering me and never provided my requested refund. I have well over 200 movies and shows. I feel horribly ripped off.

You can run tests on http://speedtest.vudu.com and then speedtest.verizon.com (or similar from your ISP), then to an external site, perhaps speedtest.net. I have 75Mb symmetric service over fiber to the premises (FIOS). I measure over 83Mb on the Verizon test and almost that much on the speedtest.net (so looking outside of ISP). At the same time of day I measure varying numbers from Vudu from zero up to around 5Mb.

Vudu gives me readings over 50Mb in off prime hours. They can't hold the prime time load and all they want to do is point you everywhere else like blaming your ISP. Very unprofessional. We don't have any recourse other than viewing your library at 3:00 AM. I have started purchasing on Amazon.com. They have no issue at all providing my streaming library during prime time.

I agree with David. Vudu seems to work fine in the middle of the night (yay, 3rd shift) but like 6pm-10pm central it buffers like crazy.

Paying a lot of money for movies and building my HDX collection. All movies are buffering....when switching to HD from HDX, same problem. No other service has this issue. NETWORK IS STATE OF THE ART.

You'll do a lot better to remedy your problem if you pick up the phone.

                              CALL VUDU.
