Yes its amamzing what a bad router can do.

You may want to look at the Linksys WRT54GL:

    http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Cisco-...6650998&sr=8-1

Its a good solid router and it can be flashed with 3rd party firmware if you want to enable QOS since you are a vonage user....

Now if you still have this issue with a new router then the next step is to look what your provider is doing with their modem when connected to a router. Are you a DSL subscriber?

Thanks, I'll see what Circuit City has in stock tomorrow and hopefully I'll be up and running well beyond the 20 mark tomorrow night!

EDIT: I am a DSL subscriber

I recommend Buffalo routers. Same hardware as the Linksys internally, but some Linksys models have problems being flashable (but did they get that fixed, Ron?) as they changed the OS the router runs.

You can't get buffalo's right now due to the lawsuit. I have been trying for over a month and they keep telling me it will be over soon. I had a ski lodge in Upper Michgain that I have a contract to bring online and couldn't get the routers. Had to settle with the Linksys.

The Linksys model I gave him is flashable. Its the non-GL routers that Linksys sells that can't be flashed...

I just came home and noticed that the Vudu box is red. I unplugged the box and restarted it. It was green for about a second and then turned red where it still is. I have the box wired via the Netgear router. Is anyone else having this problem?

Ok so my lovely new $50 WRT54G from walmart (GL is on order since not carried in the stores) is leaps and bounds greater than the WRV54G was... ran multiple tests directly connected to it on speakeasy.net and got the following results for upload speeds: 3343, 1246, 1542, 3433, 2979 SO I would say my upload speed issues have been resolved!

Now however my VUDU is failing the internet connectivity test, anyone have any ideas?

UPDATE: Reconfigured to use a static IP and it now passes the internet connectivity test but cannot connect to VUDU

I think there has been an outage affecting some customers in the last couple of hours. I believe it has been resolved as of a few minutes ago and your boxes should now be green.
                If not, let us know!

                Cheers,

That is some good new that swapping out the router corrected the issue. But what really bits is as soon as you get it to work the VUDU folks were having some issues. At least its resloved.

Let me know when you get the GL then you can really start to have some fun with loading some firmware and configuring the router for QOS....

I'll definitely let you know when I get the GL in, though I'm not sure if it'll make it this week. And I'll keep ya'll posted on the green/yellow status. I reset my network stats and told my VUDU I wanted to rent "Knocked Up" which was marked as available and it is downloading and claiming to be available in a few days... so we'll see what happens!
