Help!! Not working with Linksys switch

    Hi all

The VUDU works great when it is direct into my Mediacom high speed cable modem. However, today I added a basic new Linksys 8 port switch from BestBuy. The computer hooked to it works great but the VUDU says no connection.... ??

What should I do? Any ideas?

Both of my Vudu's are going through multiple Linksys switches without a problem.

First - Are you experienced enough with network switches to know for certain you are connecting it the right way (no insult intended)?

Second - Do the "lights" on your Vudu NIC come on when you plug in the cable? It's possible the cable is not pushed in all the way.

How do you connect a network switch wrong? You plug your network cables into any port. There are no "special" ports.

        HI thanks for the replys...

Yes I do not know how to do it wrong....but I do not know much about them. I just plugged them in....

Connection at the VUDU is good, never altered it and it was working direct into the BBand Modem

Modem plugged in to port 1 , VUDU in 3 and computer in 4....

        Computer is online and fine.

Actually, double check it. Linksys switches have an uplink port that is designed to connect the switch to the modem. If the modem doesn't have an autosensing port, then you need to use the uplink port on the back of the Linksys.

I have seen some switches that have "uplink" ports or a button to convert one of the ports (typically the first or last port) from a regular port to an uplink port. Admittedly those are getting to be rather rare.

What model number switch are we dealing with?

Does your modem have a router built in? If not, that is likely to be your problem since you need to have a router if you have more than one device attached to your network. It's possible the computer has a static IP address and is continuing to work and there is no DHCP server for the Vudu to get an address.

Mine works fine.. The only device that has an issue with my linksys switch is my slingbox.

Really? It's off topic but since the original poster never replied...

I have my Pro and my Solo and my Vudu running through a 5 port switch with no problems...
