VUDU on ChromeOS (Chromebooks) is BROKEN

Hello. Just as the title suggests, playing back content on a Chromebook, whether it is the browser site or the Android app, does NOT play anything but SD because of an HDCP error. Playing the same movies on my Windows 10 PC with Google Chrome is no issue up to HDX, but the same version of the Chrome browser and nothing. Even the Android app limits streams and downloads to SD only. I won over 2,600 movies and am stuck for portability to SD for all of them? Can VUDU fix this ASAP?! I remember talking to a VUDU rep on phone months ago about this issue, and he assured it was Google's issue. Then a bit later talked to Google support through Google One, and they said it was VUDU because it doesn't make sense why the browser works while the ChromeOS system using same browser does not. Enough he said, she said... get this working!

Before anyone says just buy a Windows laptop... no. I own an Asus C302 that has a 12.5" 2-in-1 1080p 300 nit screen great for movies that weighs less than 2.7 pounds I got for $500. Less headaches with updates on Chromebook too. I have zero issue playing back 1080p through browser on Amazon Instant video, or even Netflix browser and Android app of Netflix lets me stream/watch HD content, so by that "HDCP" error not popping in those same apps on same OS leads me to believe it's VUDU dragging their behind on this.

HDX streaming capabilities are only allowed on Android devices with WideVine level 1 certification. This is probably why you can only stream in SD. As far as Chromebooks go, we do not support these devices.

Thanks for the reply. Is it something that can or will be fixed. I can understand the Android app aspect as Chromebooks run ANdroid in a container, so maybe getting that WideVine is a no go, but it still does not explain why the Chrome browser on Windows works up to 1080p, but the Chromebooks don't. Same browser and extensions. At least streaming HDX streams would be okay.

We have never supported Chromebooks and is not on the road map for the future.

Appreciate the honesty. Just curious as to why you won't support it, or why at the very least the Chrome browser on ChromeOS that is the same as the one you can download for Windows and Mac that CAN at least do HDX can't do HDX. Is that more of a ChromeOS thing than a VUDU support?

So the Chrome browser issue isn't just a Chromebook issue.
"Oops! This title won?t play in this quality on your display due to copyright restrictions. It can be played only if your output and display support HDCP." This error started a month ago I think. I use a desktop PC. Never had issues with Vudu until this. This happens ONLY on Chrome web browser. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Google Play, Movies Anywhere, ALL perfectly fine. But Vudu is no bueno. When I open Vudu in Mozilla, it streams HDX perfectly. So I don't know what the disconnect is but Chrome and Vudu do not like each other at the moment.

This is a known issue with the Chrome browser version >= 69. We have reported it to Google to fix.
