    "Playback Error" "Unable to Start Playback" on LinuxMint 19.3 Chrome Web Browser

    When trying to play videos on VUDU I am getting a message of "Playback Error, Unable to Start Playback" The only option I am given is to select the "Exit" tab provide just below the text. After selecting a film it played all three advertisements but would not play the film afterward. So it can play commercials but not films? There's also no option to start the film over like on Roku. I tried playing a film I already own and got the same result. Is there another web browser you could use? Chromium maybe? I tried Firefox and got the exact same result. My apologies if it's already been mentioned but is there a certain processor requirement for desktops and laptops?

        Why does Vudu need to "Support" Linux? Please enlighten me.... If the browser is supported and codecs installed there shouldn't be a problem...

          Not only can I play the commercials, but I can also play the trailers, so Vudu DOES support Linux playback,just not the actual content.
          I've tried Ubuntu and a new install of Kubuntu, both Firefox and Chrome.

            Trailers and ads are not encrypted - it's a DRM issue.

              To Jake in VUDU Engineering;

              Why is it that VUDU does not see fit to support the Linux "DRM issue" when I have no difficulty whatsoever in viewing my purchased movies on the websites of your competition - AMAZON, MOVIES ANYWHERE, or GOOGLE PLAY??? They all play fine in any browser installed on my Kubuntu 18.04 laptop. You are behaving like APPLE!! (I never buy iTunes movies AT ALL anymore, since they are more restrictive than you.) It makes me reluctant to purchase movies through VUDU. Right now, I only buy from you if you have something at a VERY ATTRACTIVE sale price or the title is absolutely unavailable through another service. All I know is you would definitely get more of my money if you had better support FOR ALL OPERATING SYSTEMS, like AMAZON does. BTW, I spend at least $200-$300 a year on streaming movies.

                Probably because Linux users make up a microscopic portion of Vudu users. It's not worth the resources and time for Vudu to invest in Linux compatibility.

                  Ouch.. this is HUGE. I've spent a TON on my movies and TV shows and now this. I know this used to work because I've played content on my Mint machine in the past.. came back after an Amazon series to find that Vudu no longer works! I try to be good and buy all my movies but these companies make it almost impossible to support DRM.

                    You're counting chickens before the eggs are even lain. This is a fatal bug therefore 0 Vudu users CAN use Linux. You can't say it's a microscopic portion of Vudu users or that it isn't worth their time or resources because the Linux user base is growing by leaps and bounds every day and even if there are only a handful of users like the previous commenter spending $200-$300 a year that is still well worth a few hours programming.

                    I'm a developer myself and would like to know what kind of "DRM Issue" could be so complex for VUDU, yet not for so many other services (Netflix, Amazon, Roku, Disney+, Tubi, etc.). Many of these other services are much smaller than VUDU and yet they have the resources to support Linux. What is the holdup?
