    Playback doesn't work on Safari on Mac

    It's time to hire better coders, or else negotiate a transition of my purchased library off of Vudu and onto a reliable service. It's sad, because I originally picked Vudu so I didn't have to choose a side between Google, Apple, and Amazon. I loved having my content on a 3rd party provider that would play on everything.

    This morning I fired up a scene from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which I have bought in HDX. Watching it on Chrome, it didn't look like HDX. Lo and behold, I am discovering that Vudu only supports HDX and UHD on Safari or Edge. "Well, that sucks but I'm on a Mac," I think. "I have Safari." I launch that browser, and all I get is an endless repetition of "To play this title, enable Auto-Play in Safari. Go to Safari > Settings for the Website. Set Auto-Play to "Allow All Auto-Play"." And then I get returned to the movie page. I have correctly changed that setting, and still I cannot watch the movie at any resolution.

    Literally. My only viewing in a browser option appears to be watch in SD in Chrome (and presumably Firefox), or nothing. Absolutely terrible experience. The one thing you should excel at above all else is streaming the content that I paid for. You are failing at the basics, Vudu.

    Most major movie streaming services have been capped at 720p on most browsers for some time now.

    Assuming proper equipment / software Edge is the only major exception, which in some cases can do 4K for movies.

    This is driven by the studios. Not fault of Vudu. It's limited to just Vudu. Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, etc have similar situation.
