    Re: Free Content on Vudu

Great surprise the morning I discovered the new free content. I went ahead and "purchased" all the TV pilots for later viewing. Having fun catching up this week, especially 'My Name is Earl' which friends have been recommending but I've never seen. After the pilot, I purchased the next one and likely will get all of them. How SWEET to watch straight through... no commercials, no FF'ing, no concern that content will disappear to make room for something else. And that scroll wheel... wow. So easy to roll back if I missed a line. Yes, I'm addicted to the remote. Thanks much, VUDU gods!

Are there plans to offer any of the TV shows in HD sometime this year?

          Re: Free Content on Vudu

It'd be sweet if Vudu signed deal(s) to bring ad-supported TV shows in HD. Some networks (like ABC) already stream HD over the web, but it'd be much more convenient to use Vudu.

P.S. Vudu also needs to add Season Pass options to TV Shows, so you could purchase an entire season at once and, hopefully, for a discounted price (which is what iTunes does, I believe).

They also have shows available with Comast On demand in HD. FIOS in my area has many CBS and NBS shows but only in SD so far. Comast has the CBS shows fre but charges for the NBC shows. FIOS has the CBS and NBC shows for free.

Hmmm... not sure I get you on this one. That's what I use my Tivo for.

Unless you mean where they had ALL the episodes for ALL the seasons in one spot.

But I'm very doubtful that they'd do that b/c they know that not a single person would buy the content if they can get it for free with a minor annoyance of fast forwarding (scrolling is VERY effective with the Vudu) through the commercials. I think the only way they'd do this is if FF was disabled.

You really can't FF while streaming...

Well, I have a non-HD TiVo (S2DT), so to get HD shows I either have to watch them live or record them on my HTPC. But I imagine most people don't have that luxury, so Vudu as a distribution platform would seem suitable, especially since they can put more titles out there (like you said, all seasons of all shows).

And, naturally, I take it for granted that fast-forwarding through ads would be disabled.

                    Re: Free Content on Vudu

I'd rather have them charge me something like $1 for each episode than have commericals. I've been time shifting TV since 1984 so I rarely watch commercials, except for something like the Superbowl.
