    Rental problem

I rented the movie Shoot Em Up with Clive Owen over the weekend and today I looked to see how many days I have left and the movie is gone. I did not even press the watch it now button and its gone from "My Movies" Whats up with that?

It is possible that the movie went into a black out period where it has to be pulled from the Vudu catalog. And yes, if it is un-viewed rental, it gets pulled at that time too. If it is less than 30 days until the movie goes away, you'll see the time remaining on the rental saying so. There's supposed to be a warning when the hold time is shorter as well.

To me, this is a bug in the system and you should have been clearly warned before you rented that your rental window was going to be short. I would call customer service on this and ask for a refund of the rental. Then I would post this in the bug forum. I can move this thread there but I want to make sure that the movie is indeed gone into blackout and not that there is another problem.

Thanks Jon, I just assumed that I could leave the movie for 30 days until I decided to watch it but I will check with the Vudu guys tomorrow.

If the movie is going into blackout, the total time to watch is reduced to the time remaining until the blackout. Yeah, it bites that you still can't keep it for the full 30 days. Studio decision...You should still be prominently warned...

Yea - that does bite. I agree that you should be prominently warned. And when I say prominent I mean with a big "red rubber stamped" warning across the entire screen or something.

What is the correct behavior for this scenario, Greg?

The movie shouldn't be gone. Shoot Em Up is not blacked out and its avaiable for both rent and purchase.

The movie should still show with "XX days" left (where XX matches the number of days left within the rental window).

Do you see the movie on your VUDU account page? I'm wondering if maybe it didn't really go through, although if you saw the "Watch it now" button, that should indicate that it did.

I dunno. I worked today. I think they are working. I've been communicating with various Vudu staff throughout the day...
