I get the feeling, I can't tell you how many times I've tried to read a thread on here and someone decided to start talking about weird topics, like cheese, XBMC, Cakes, Conch Republic, Malt and other Alcohol drinks, cheese, Rush Limbaugh, cheese or some website called planetvudu, buying Macbooks, cheese, Global Warming, etc, etc..instead of sticking to the threaded topic or to anything and everything related ONLY to vudu, go figure.

Mebby, I get what Jimmy was trying to do and why, and my point was more that he choose this one incident to speak out against, when there are hundreds of examples from others who do this ALL THE TIME, and nothing is ever said.

NA9D, if it is true that "the spirit of the law is anything and everything related to Vudu" than you won't mind if I remind you and hodge and various others about your many threads that were hi-jacked to talk about cheese, among many other things listed above, and as such doesn't that make you a hyopcrite?

MaxH I get you don't come on here to read about politics, but I don't come on here to read about what what drinks people like or what dinners they went to either, but you don't hear me complaining when the thread is about HDX, and the next thing you know your talking about your personal life.

Come on guys, you can't serious preach about a topic moving off-topic, unless your a saint and never did it yourself. In fact, I just spent 10 mins browsing through your various responses to other threads, and I assure you it wasn't hard to find many examples of you guys doing the same thing. My guess is it has more to do with the topic of politics, then your opposition to off-topic responses that have nothing to do with a threads original topic.

However, if you all subscribe to NA9D view of the rules, then I have no problem with it, I'll follow along, just don't be surprised when I post a friendly reminder next time you do the same thing.

Are you really comparing the occasional joke with a very contentious discussion of a sensitive and polarized topic? Going back through my last couple of dozen posts, I see a couple of jokes I made, and a couple of times when I contributed to pulling the conversation off topic. The discussion of my family that I found had to do with how we use our Vudus, so I'm not sure how that's relevant to being off-topic.

That's exactly right. Which do you think flame wars start more often over: choice of alcoholic beverage, or politics?

And yes, I can preach about it even if I'm guilty of it...if I don't complain about being called on it. I certainly recognize that one post I made about what brand of rum I like was off-topic for a thread about how many Vudus had been sold. If that thread had been closed or split, I would not only have been contrite, I would have been happy to have both conversations from the thread put back on their own track. I've split or closed threads myself for that reason, even when I had contributed to the problem.

If you can remain friendly, sure, I'd like that. But if you start doing research in order to call out fellow members again, that does not feel exactly friendly to me. That's why I stated a general dislike for the political bickering, rather than stating any views or scolding any particular members.

So, time for a do-over? Can we move on now?

No I am comparing moving an original topic, to moving the discussion "off-topic," in what NA9D calls a violation of the spirit of the law. It shouldn't matter whether it is a topic about cheese or politics. If that is the standard. Otherwise, you have a double-standard.

Statistically, you might be right, but that doesn't change the fact that when your reading a post about HDX, you don't want to read about alcohol. Nor does it change the fact that people can have a civil discussion without resorting to a flame war about a topic you dislike. What your suggesting is setting some kind of double standard, based on what you dislike.

I think they call that hypocrisy.

What you call bickering, I call having a civil discussion. And for the record, that discussion WAS civil, and could of easily been handled by the mods, had it resorted to anything other then that, just as they can with ANY other thread that does so. However, to censure a thread before it does so, seems a little heavy handed, IMO.

Ok guys. Let's not completely derail this thread. You guys can take your discussions to PM if you want. Let's keep the thread on topic.

          Thanks.

Talking about VUDU posting rules is "VUDU Related" isn't it?!?

Come on Hodge, Let's keep the thread on topic, remember, it should be "VUDU Related" to be allowed.
