Just because you heard something on Faux News or wherever you heard what you heard, doesn't make it true either.

However, if you find some information that is supports your statements from reputable governmental sources (ie: census bureau, etc), I'd be more then happy to read them.

I doubt you will find one of those.

I would say the proof would be in the redistricting that results in next years census, but I already suspect your counter argument would be that it's just a reflection in the demographic changes occurring over the last 10 years.

I can't think of a way to positively prove your or mine beliefs. So until then, I'll continue to question the validity and accuracy of the census as a source of reliable data.

Well lets look at the states expected to gain or lose House seats following the 2010 census, and see if your right.

        http://www.scholarsandrogues.com/200...int-maybe-not/

        Excerpt:

"Of the 21 states (listed earlier) expected to gain or lose House seats, state legislatures draw district boundaries in 17. Of the 21 lose-or-gain states, Democrats control 11 legislatures; the GOP controls 6. But the states held by Democrats represent a net loss of 8 seats; those controlled by the GOP represent a net gain of 9 seats."

"In many states, governors, while by law not the principal author of new district lines, hold veto power over legislatively drafted districts. (Note that in cases where governors and legislatures cannot agree, courts often step in to draw district lines.) Obviously, it is to the advantage of a party to control both the governorship and both chambers of the legislature. Following the 2008 elections, Democrats control governments in 16 states; Republicans are in charge in only 9 states. But ? Democrats rule over 16 states that represent, after reapportionment, a net loss of 5 House seats; The GOP commands 9 states that represent a net gain of 9 House seats."

Regardless of if the democrats manage to redistrict in their favor or not, according to Gov. Bill Richardson:

        http://jmbell.org/blog/2008/09/12/ut...ts-nationwide/

"Right now, the GOP is executing a plan to TAKE 38 governorships over the next three years. If they accomplish this, they will have the power to shrewdly alter election district borders and steal back Congress. Why governors? Governors influence redistricting?the redrawing of congressional district lines, and all states redistrict in 2011 to make our government more representative. But like Texan Tom DeLay, who led the underhanded, but legal, effort to create SIX new Republican congressional districts in Texas in 2003, the GOP wants to make government non-representative?to win by making it impossible for Republicans to lose."

Now lets consider that there will be 36 gubernatorial races in 2010. Of those 36, 19 are for state houses currently held by Democrats. And of those 19, ten will involve Democratic governors who won?t be running for reelection (either because of term limits or retirement). So who is to gain by this?! hmmmm

For example, I have never watched Hulu, but my dog does!!
I still stand by my assertion that the original statement was a misstatement and sloppy journalism. Coming from a reporter, it needs to be based either in citable facts or indicate what statistical sampling method was used to come up with the number. Absent that, the only realistic assumption to make is they blew it and meant to say that that was the number of videos watched, not the number of people that watched them.

I'm still at a loss as to how this became a political concern. I'd expect it of Rush Limbaugh, but not you Hodge. OMG! You aren't Rush, are you?

No, thank you, Jimmy. Even some of us with strong partisan leanings on this subject don't want to discuss it here.

Yeah, take rot gut like this to PlanetVudu.com where we could set up an area for users to discuss this sort of subject until the cows come home. Let's leave the official forums to discuss topics really germane to Vudu.

Now, will we ever see Hulu on Vudu? Dunno. Personally, I think Sling.Com would be a better choice as it has access to CBS, Hulu, etc...

I just wish Vudu had better support for TV shows, period. My preference would be through the normal UI and not some lesser quality 3rd party provider.

Personally, I don't consider HULU germane to VUDU either, but I guess people like to talk about it, I could do without hearing about it ever again.

I don't think VUDU needs HULU, SLING or any other "free" service, it just needs to add more TV shows to its paid TV offerings and offer something comparable to ATV to compete. For none of that low quality, no income, novelty programs will ever assure VUDUs financial success, IMO.

No offense Jimmy, but you guys do list this forum with the description of "Anything and EVERYTHING" and in your posting rules it clearly states one can discuss "off-topic chatter with like-minded people," which clearly politics would fall into. And clearly you don't hear people like me complaining when people, who know who they are, high-jack threads constantly around here to talk about cheese, which is about as far off-topic as one can get around here.

I have to admit, I'm with rstone on both things. I think politics can be ok if it doesn't get out of hand. It certainly does have that potential but as long as people keep it friendly enough, I don't see the harm.

                          They reveal the total truth.

If VUDU doesn't have it, then maybe you can see it on HULU (I'll have to ask my dog).

I watched it last week on my phasgorzmic Directv and it was very enlightening.

I don't necessarily disagree with your statements but I think the point he was trying to make is that this particular thread is about Hulu and Vudu and that has nothing to do with what the government intends to do with the census.

This discussion would probably be more appropriately moved to a new thread b/c it's a little annoying when people look in this thread thinking they're going to be reading about Hulu and Vudu and instead that have to sift through dozens of off-topic posts.

Exactly. If I still had my super moderator powers, this thread would be diced and sliced with the off topic census discussion moved out of here. I know this also says "anything and everything" but I think that while the "letter of the law" may say anything and everything, I think the "spirit of the law" is anything and everything related to Vudu. There's a lot of places online to discuss and argue politics. Maybe not with your friends who own Vudus. We've asked for a "lounge" type forum be created so that there can be this sort of thing but that has not happened.

This site is Vudu owned and operated and as such, they determine what they want to have here. That's why I suggested moving such topics to PlanetVudu.com which is an independent Vudu related site where we can set up a specific forum for Vuduphiles arguing politics if that's what you guys want!
