It's pretty hard to tell exactly what they mean. Saying something is the same format as Bluray and the same resolution does not mean the same PQ. Also, they claim the "most" and leave it at that. They don't say how they come up with that.

I don't have BR, but I also doubt it's PQ is on par with BR.

I downloaded one but haven't watched it yet to compare with VUDU's PQ.

I think this is the only other service providing 1080/24p movies besides VUDU (don't know for a fact). They are the same price at $5.99

One thing I noticed is that their downloads are much faster that VUDU's. But I don't know if that is due to differences in the way DTV and VUDU technologies work or if it's indicative of bitrates and subsequent file sizes.

One thing, I mentioned before, that I like DTV over VUDU is that with DTV you can download the movie without having to pay for it first. You only pay at the time you start watching it.

Another thing I like is they preload your box with the top new movies. So for me there is a high chance that the movie I would want to watch is already ready for viewing. A sort of psuedo instant view feature.

Bottom line is now I have a greater choice of 1080/24p movies to select from. If VUDU has a movie I want to watch I'll watch it from VUDU. If DTV has one that VUDU doesn't then I have an extra option to watch more movies.

I don't know why they claim to have the most 1080p movies. Perhaps they are comparing themselves to Dish Network and/or Cable TV.

I just saw this yesterday- I haven't tried it on my DTV yet but how fast did it download? I was curious about this as well. I agree that the "pre-loading" of some top movies is a nice feature. Still I can't imagine that they have anywhere near the number HDX movies VUDU has.

I did check out the 1080p trailer of Hulk months ago on DTV and it did look damn good. I don't have a BR either but it was definitely better looking on by 50" panasonic then ATV's HD movies. Will be interesting to check out.

"DIRECTV Now Offers the Largest Selection of 1080p Movies"

          Isn't this title a lie?
DirecTV has only 30 movies available. VUDU has many, many more 1080P movies available.

Given that some people have raised questions about VUDU's bandwidth use, isn't preloading of 1080p content an even more aggressive use of bandwidth?

Depends how they do it. They might use the satellite downlink to preload content over time...Pretty simple and efficient way to load all subscriber's boxes with the same content.
