Roku & Playboy...yeah I know its strange too

Okay, I just got my first ever issue of Playboy (I have seen it before, just not my own bought copy). Now your asking why I am telling you this in a Vudu forum. Well over the three day holiday I have tried to find anything on the web to validate what was written in a sub article about Roku.

They do some sort of best of products and down in the corner they talk about Roku as one of the best products to be put out. In this blurb they quote the makers of Roku that HULU is coming to their platform very soon.

Now I am a huge Vudu supporter, but for 99 dollars I am more then willing to pick up a Roku and give it a try. I know Vudu has the best HD quality, but lets face it, more stuff on one box means better chance it will survive.

I sure hope Vudu finds out how they got Hulu to agree to this deal. I am thinking that maybe its an idea that could be translated onto the VUDU box.

Its the terms of service that prevents VUDU and others from displaying hulu content. Yes you can get a $100 Roku to stream content and they may get hulu service but nothing is guaranteed that they will get hulu. VUDU still has the richest movie catalog in the industry and more HD movies than any other offering.

I too would like to see hulu on the VUDU but for me it would be a "nice to have" since I see VUDU as the quality movie delivery platform.

VUDU also has adult titles in SD and HD. Not sure what it's called but when you go to it in the VUDU menu all the colors change and of course the content changes since it's all adult oriented sexual material.

I would personally be surprised if Hulu came to the Roku. It was available "officially" on Boxee until Hulu pulled their license from Boxee citing concerns of their content partners. It appears to me that Hulu's focus is on delivering content to the computer and not to the TV otherwise, why would they pull from a nascent platform like Boxee?

I have a Roku and have followed this discussion ad nauseum on their forums. I agree that it is very doubtful that Hulu will show up on Roku. The main point of all of the arguments being that the Networks do not want Hulu on your tv- it would destroy their product. Not to mention that Hulu as a product makes no money and eventually this will catch up with them.

One thing that Netflix (therefore the Roku) has that I don't understand but is interesting is some sort of deal with CBS where some new shows show up on their instant play (in HD) the day after airing- shows like CSI and it's spinoffs, and NCIS. I don't understand the model that allows them to do this but there it is. Interesting.

You know, now that I've had more time to think about this I realize that EVERYBODY knows Hulu is not coming to the Roku...is this all some sort of dastardly plan to make us believe you really DID buy Playboy for the articles?

Finally someone has reported my PlayBoy sighting. I like how they cut the naked girl out on the right hand page.
