    listing hd movies to purchase

I have been looking through the vudu site and cannot find a place that just states movies for sale, and list just the hd movies for purchase. Everything I find is sd.

The web site doesn't have all the filters like the VUDU's user interface does. Purchase or Rent filters are only on the VUDU box...

      This doesn't answer the question.

When I try to filter on the box to find a list of only HD movies available for purchase, it doesn't work. I filter by "HD", and I also filter by "Available to Purchase". Instead of a list of HD movies to Purchase, I get ALL HD movies (rental and purchase), plus ALL movies available to purchase (including SD).

It should be an easy fix to have filters combine to show only HD to Purchase, right?

        Hi Landy,

The filters works as you described. It will post everything that is in HD and is available to own, which means SD version of the titles will show up. It doesn't actually filter only HD that's available to own. I'll put in a feature request to the developers.

For the time being, you may find HD titles for purchase under EXPLORE CATALOG. Scroll down to the collection sections, then scroll to the right until you come across a yellow and black banner call Buy HD Titles.

Thanks for the quick response Jimmy! Thanks also for submitting the feature request.

I am aware of the Buy HD collection. However, the movies listed there rarely seem to get additional titles (not Vudu's fault, I know), and it is by no means a complete list of HD or HDX movies available to purchase. It also doesn't include any of the recent Disney/ Buena Vista HDX movies added for purchase. Then, I occasionally stumble across random titles that are available for purchase in HDX - three examples that come to mind are Twilight, Let the Right One In and Confessions of a Shopaholic. None of these three movies can be found in a collection or by using filters as available to purchase in HDX unless you happen to stumble across the fact.

Please don't get me wrong- I LOVE my Vudu, and I constantly recommend it to my friends. However, it seems to be that you guys are missing an opportunity to sell more movies in HD/HDX. I have no interest in buying SD titles, but I'd love to own more HDX titles. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I also understand that it's an issue with the studios, but I am not complaining about the relatively small HDX to purchase content (that will hopefully come later if more studios follow Buena Vista's lead. Kudos to whoever negotiated that deal, by the way!).

My point is simply that if HD/HDX movies available to own were highlighted (either in a Collection or by using the "HD" and "Available to Own" filters in conjunction with each other), then I for one would be buying more.

A final example - the second my wife noticed that Twilight was available to buy in HDX, she jumped on it (groan...). That is $23.99 Vudu could have banked ages ago had there been an easier way to find HDX content to purchase!

Constructive criticism over! As I said, I love love love my Vudu.

            Hi Landy,

Thank you for the feedback. You make a very good point. My department usually meets once a week to discuss various issues, which includes customer feedback. I'll bring this up in the meeting. As you said, you're probably not alone in wanting this feature.

Please keep the feedback coming and thank you choosing VUDU!

Just to second this request. I just spent 1.5 hours trying to find what movies I could buy in HD or HDX. Every movie I found and opened I'd find it was rent only in HD/HDX. Very very frustrating. Even more frustrating is how few (like .. 5 ?) HDX movies are available for purchase HDX isn't that new anymore why isn't this expanding ?

Re: listing hd movies to purchase

The Vudu filters are COMPLETELY screwed up. I don't know who thinks that the concept of:

Filter: HD/HDX AND Purchase would basically equate to HD/HDX movies for rent and anything available to purchase. It completely defies the concept of Boolean logic where AND is an exclusive operator where only if both sides of AND are true is the output true. The Vudu filter should not be called an "AND" but an "ALSO." Technically in Boolean terms it's an OR function.

I have no idea of how a genius in marketing thought it would be clever to set up an "ALSO" or "OR" search. I seem to remember this way back in the Alpha/Beta days. We complained about it and it was fixed for a time to be a "true" AND function. Now, it seems they regressed. Without it being an "AND" function the search is basically useless. You end up with everything that meets any of the criteria in any of the selections you make.

There is NO way to view just HD/HDX movies available for purchase and that is a real failing of the system.

Re: listing hd movies to purchase

...and now the "HD to purchase" collection has gone from the Explore Catalogue, as well as the Disney/Buena Vista HDX to purchase collection. So now we have exactly zero ways to search for HDX or HD movies to own.

Why oh why can we not filter on HD or HDX to purchase?
