Odd. I find my Leopard install on my MacBook Pro is simply wonderful. I have no problems like you suggest. In fact, I find fewer problems with hardware and Leopard than I do with Windows XP.

It's not IE7. It's the fact that the OS depends on the web browser for EVERYTHING. Everything in Vista appears to be done in HTML! Microsoft got spanked for tying IE too closely to the OS and it appears with Vista they didn't learn their lesson as the OS is even more tied to it. Now, I'll admit, I've had little exposure to Vista. We now have our first laptop at work running it and I just got that laptop yesterday. So I'll be able to comment more intelligently in the future. It's a pretty OS, but I still like OS X better.

That is one of my points, most negative comment about MS and Vista are from people who have not used. There is nothing wrong with IE 7 or Vista yet you made a negative comment without even using the OS enough. I listen to Twit podcast weekly and the fools bash Vista and then Paul Thurrot makes a tip on Vista and Leporte is surprized by a feature that is staring you right in the face. Its clear the man only uses OSX but he feels compelled to bash Vista because he is a Apple Fanboy. That is my point!

I have used all four OS's(Vista, XP, Tiger and Leopard) Vista is the best of the bunch, period. OSX Tiger was nice but Leopard is just a service pack which creates far more problems than it corrects, but you won't hear the fanboys bash Leopard. And I am not the only one that has these problems with Leopard. Just look at their boards.

Who knows. It was supposed to be out nearly 2 weeks ago. I'm expecting it this Tuesday but that's a guess...

That's my gripe with a lot of larger companies. Why can't they just come out and admit they missed a company stated delivery date and then announce an honest estimate of when it will really be delivered? It seems like everyone is afraid they made a mistake, but I think all the speculation is actually causing them more harm than good.

Of course the best of all worlds is when a company (like VUDU for instance) states a delivery date and "actually" keeps it!!!

I think w/software development it's just hard to always announce dates. They've missed the first published date and so they don't want to announce another for fear of being wrong again...You should have worked at the company I used to work for 15 years ago...Their software release schedule was horrible!

Having worked in software for over 20 years, I agree. However, some companies are better than others. Doing it well requires tremendous discipline since it can be very tempting to change the specs of what you are delivering right up to the very end. Since it's "just software", it doesn't require any physical retooling of machines, etc.

However, if you take that to the extreme and release what you said when you said, just because you said it, you can be left behind because your competitor may be able to successfully deliver a feature that you didn't think of when you made your plans. I think it needs to be a balance of discipline and flexibility.

It normally doesn't bother me this much, but in this case I really feel like I didn't get what I (thought) I paid for. It's kinda like buying a new tv at Walmart, taking it home, turning it on, and a message on the screen says "Congratulations on your purchase, you should be able to see a picture some time in the near future".

Even if Vudu had missed their 1.2 deadline, it wouldn't have been as bad, because it was at least usable out of the box.

                          Regards

But at least you would have enjoyed the low price you paid for such a set.

Oh AppleTV is usable if you want to buy content from iTunes Music Store or convert your existing digital content to MPEG4 or H.264!

Maybe I was a little harsh. I do like watching the Apple logo screen saver bounce around after getting too hammerd to watch Vudu!
