or anyone know of a used marketplace, i could pick up a used but working model, at a fair price ?

$79.99 is steep for me right now. i was hoping some of you might have some ideas.

Before I got my Vudu wireless adapter during one of the specials they had, I went to a used game store and bought a wireless adapter for the original xbox. It cost all of about 29.00 and worked like a charm.

Well if you are good with wireless router configuration you can buy a 39-49 dollar G router like Buffalo and run it in "client" or "Bridge" mode. In that mode the router will allow a wired ethernet device to connect to your wirless network.

I use WDS to handle my wireless connections to the second floor of my house and the VUDU runs though that.

may i ask which is easier, client, or bridged mode ?

I have a linksys router running dd-wrt right now.

may i also ask, where i could learn how to configure a new router, to interface with my existing dd-wrt which is currently in AP mode, so that they would both essentially "bond" internet connections, on the ethernet ports (receiving internet from the one single dd-wrt router with the receiving internet port.

i have a simply 192.168.1.1 network 255.255.255.0 subnet and ip addresses starting at 192.168.1.150.

any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated, as i can't seem to find a original xbox wireless network adaptor anywhere, and i'm low on funds. i'd like to restore connectivity to my vudu box. i put my router in my parents office as a favor to them. the always complain of speed.

          thank you

thank you for that tip. since i already had dd-wrt on one of my routers, and had a spare router (non dd-wrt) i was able to solve the problem, saving me $40-$79 plus giving me internet connectivity to all of my internet connected devices all in one place once i had found this photo at the dd-wrt site. thank you for that suggestion.

Awesome. I am glad you were able to solve your dilemma. To answer your question from earlier, I bought a second Vudu box when they had the box/adapter for 150.00 and used the xbox adapter on a second Xbox 360 that I had just bought.

btw, i found a better solution than a bridged cilent which would only allow cables & wireless clients once the two routers were linked. a bridged repeater configuration would allow with wired and wireless devices once they were bridged. i thought i'd paste the link should anyone care to use this solution for their vudu/other devices. this has the advantage of extending the range of your existing broadcasted SSID and allowing wired and wireless connectivity (wired connectivity on both routers, wireless through the extended range). if you can follow directions, and have some knowledge of networking, its doable. that -- and having dd-wrt on at least 1 router, and another router (dd-wrt or not).

Glad you got it to work. I haven't used DD-WRT in a while but I do use Tomato. I think there are other posts here of others that have sucessfully implemented a "wireless bridge" solution.

The simplest solution is to get Powerline ethernet adapters. You can buy a used pair for about $30-40 at eBay.

Adjusting a wireless router to work as a bridge or client is a lot of hassle. I spent two days with no success. It works for a while and then stops working. My experience is that it is not reliable. This may be also due to my lack of knowledge.

I've used a Dlink DAP1522(it has gigabit ports) with the VUDU box.. It can be configured for an Access Point or wireless Bridge with the slider switch on the back. It's very simple to set up and also can work with wireless N 5GHz to get 100mbs+ speeds. Of course the VUDU is limited to 4mbs so with the VUDU there are no problems since it transfers at such a slow speed.
