It seems like this would not be possible without some client on a networked computer that streams to the vudu box. That seems an issue too given the wide variety of operating systems and versions, mac v. pc, etc.

Streaming is easy, decoding is the hard part. Look how many containers and codecs are out there on folks hard drives. Which ones do you support which ones don't you? What happens when you have to transcode to a new format what do you lose and what do you keep? Who supports the transcoding?

These are just a few questions that every vendor out there has to think of of if they are going to stream video from "unknown" sources. Reputations are lost if you don't support the right mix and in this space. Things can get ugly on the blogs really quick if you don't get it right.

I don't mind VUDU being the best movie player out there without streaming from my PC or NAS. It would be a nice feature but I prefer to have VUDU invest in keeping the movie content coming and the quality high.

Obviously I don't think it does now but we really need the ability to stream our movies from NAS/Network to our Vudu box. I have a bunch of backed up movies from Blu-ray and others I own that I want to be able to stream to my Vudu box to any part of my house where i have Vudu. I mean how difficulty it is to update the firmware and allow me to stream .MKV or .M2TS or .TS or VOB files to my Vudu box.

I refuse to buy another box like Popcorn Hour or others for this functionality when Vudu box can do it without any problems.

Anyone heard any news about this or whether Vudu guys will implement something like this?
