Drag Me To Hell came out today on Blu-ray

Just wondering why it's not for rent on my LG 390 today? Why do we have to wait until next month to rent this movie? I was so excited when Vudu firmware was updated on my player yesterday...

Do some searches here on the release cycle of DVD vs. VOD. Its up to the content owner if the content is released concurrently on media and VOD since they own the license. I can say that traditionally the DVD gets released and within a few day VUDU has it for purchase. Anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks later it become rentable.

Now there are a few studios like Warner and Magnolia that have released VOD same day of the DVD release for rent. But again not all their content follows the pattern.

I understand this part...but is there a reason you can't purchase it immediately in HD or HDX and only SD? It just limits us to purchase in SD only and really Id rather go to the store then, since i can get the same quality for a chunk less and WITH addittional features. (Target is selling new DVDs for 12-20 dollars, its kinda like why pay 20 on here when I only get the movies and I can't take it to someone elses house...) Some features and pricing are very competetive while others are not.

Again this is entirely up to the content provider. They are the ones that decide how long it can be viewed and what versions will be avilable and when.
This is how it is. It is nothing new.

It's all in the licensing. Studios want to move their physical content. That's the issue. This digital thing is all new still.

I think digital is catching on. The Blockbuster up the street from my office is closing. I need to go see if they have any BR discs for sale...
