Rent first, Buy only later, Escalation Tactics

Here is the deal i had with at least 3 movies so far.

I watch a great movie for $5.99 midweek, then on
the weekend we want to watch it again and BAM!
no rental, $24 buy it now only.

It always happens with popular movies, this week
    it was "Proposal".

So, please stop getting greedy when you see high traffic
for a certain movie or you will lose revenue, read below.

People have Dish, Amazon, Xbox, and they will turn their
backs on you if this keeps happening.

Case in point, my wife watched Proposal on Dish. Now i
could clearly see that it was downrezzed, but do you
think the 42" Walmart LCD guys will care?

Watch and learn Vudu! I really love this service but please
keep the channels open. Why not buy more bandwidth and servers?
It will pay back in the longterm. Show this to your boardroom golf
course visionaries, maibe they will agree

I'm guessing this is more the decision of the content owners than Vudu.

Btw, I still see The Proposal as rentable. It seems like either there is a bug that makes rentability go away after you rent it or the UI is confusing you into thinking that's the case. I'm not sure which it is.

Unfortunately, there are formatting, pricing, and availability restrictions on the content that is offered through VUDU that are put in place by the studio that owns the content. Here is a link to a good explanation of some of the restrictions:

That's what I thought this was about too. Then I saw the movie he mentioned was "The Proposal", which is still rentable. I think it's something else entirely where he is unable to rent a move that is still rentable for others. Perhaps it's a bug.

Many times there will be a discouted extended rental for a few days of only $2 or $3 instead of paying $6 again.

I know for me, The Proposal, is showing up for rental in all three formats.

Yeah I think you have to go into 'My Rentals' and have the option of the extended view for a discount.

OK, so am i to understand that if i rented the movie once, and the extended rental period expired, i cannot rent it again?

Or maibe it is a bug in my machine, i'll check again.
