    Disappointing

Well, I am cancelling my Vudu service after a week of this. Just about every movie I found on here that I wantged to watch is not available to rent, buy only. This is really sad and pathetic.

Also, I think the pricing is too high for these movies. And as others have posted, the recent news with Netflix and Warner Bros is disturbing. Just a matter of time until there are no new releases on Vudu either.

I am actually cancelling my Vudu and Netflix accounts because honestly, none of the streaming services are with a cent. I was excited to get my LG BD390 to have streaming HD content, but find it is a sham. No content, high prices, poor quality.

I guess it just isn't time for figital distribution of movies.

We appreciate your feedback about our service, it is unfortunate to hear you will no longer be using VUDU.

The rental and purchase options are actually dictated by the studio that provides the content. This is true with all video-on-demand platforms. As far as the pricing on our content, you will find it competitive with all video-on-demand providers that use a pay-per-view model. I'm not sure if you have given our HDX content a chance yet, but would strongly encourage you to try it if you are looking for high quality streaming video. In fact, we have the largest HD library amongst any on-demand provider as well as the highest quality HD video. Our HDX content offers not only 1080p/24fps but also 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus surround sound quality.

We hope you decide to change your mind about canceling your VUDU service, but wish you all the best either way.

If you don't like VUDU then don't bother trying anything else. VUDU is the best of the bunch. Everything else is downhill from VUDU.

For the movies you should send a letter to each of the movie studios and explain your dissatisfaction. They are the ones that dictate when the content is available.

        Re: Disappointing

The studios also set the price. They can ask for whatever price they want, and VOD providers not only have to accept that as their "wholesale" price, I believe one studio made a fuss over Vudu discounting movies below cost as loss leaders, and probably threatened to withhold or pull content from Vudu. Since the VOD revenue stream is still tiny compared to box office, DVD, and broadcast/cable income, the studios can take it or leave it, while any VOD provider that is so boycotted and can't offer the same selection of content is going to lose a critical competitive edge.

Don't get us wrong, a lot of us are upset over the same limitations that bothered you, it's just that most people who are happy with VOD are more the "I'll watch it whenever I can, it doesn't have to be NOW" types of viewers, while those who know when certain movies are being released on DVD are more likely to not tolerate the schedule that the VOD market is forced to endure.

Exactly. If it really was a must see for me I would have gone to the theater to see it. If I was willing to wait until it came out on DVD (which is a fairly arbitrary amount of time anyway as it depends on the movie, etc.), then I can certainly wait the extra time it takes to be available on Vudu. Sometimes I'll even choose the "buy" option on Vudu if I really want to see it and it isn't available for rent. It's still cheaper than taking the family out to the theater to see it. I just view that as a "premium" rental fee.

            Re: Disappointing

I am also very unhappy. The more Vudu i watch the more i want.

Correct, go back to Xbox, AppleTV or Netflix/Amazon movies via a
Sony TV for a thrilling 480p/720 2 channel audio experience. I guess
we are all victims of our environment. Even better, how about 150dB
compressed Cerwin-Wega sound with scratchy picture at the Multiplex
with great aroma of body odor and stale popcorn filling the air, "Humain,
trop humain"(1974)? Sorry, i live in Appalachia.

            LOL
