    comcast cable and hdx streaming

When I first got my VUDU box, I had no trouble streaming HDX movies using Brazil. But for the last several weeks I have had constant re-buffering interruptions. Usually my Comcast cable speeds are pretty fast (> 20Mbs),To measure this I have used as well as a longer sustained test which was recommended by VUDU tech support.I had thought that the problem was somewhere at the VUDU end, but now I am begining to suspect that the problem is with Comcast. It seems that at times there are frequent, but very short slow downs which are causing the box to re-buffer.
I am using an Apple airport extreme router on a Mac Pro and my VUDU is hardwired into this router. Apparently I am unable to configure this router to allow BOTH DCHP and a specified DNS server, so I can not try an alternate DNS.

So.. what are my options ? I dont think there are any faster broadband provides available to me (Boulder CO) and I dont really want to watch anything other than HDX quality. Any advice from anyone ?

Re: comcast cable and hdx streaming

You could try a different router. I'm using a D-Link DGL-4100 gaming router. I also have Comcast and have had no issues. For the wireless you could use a wireless access point connected to that router.

Re: comcast cable and hdx streaming

I have comcast with speeds up to 20MPS....I am running almost 12 according to speedtest. I am using the regular software, not brazil. I have a netgear wireless n router and watched 2 hdx movies, and had no buffering problems at all. From what i understand, brazil has alot of bugs that need to be worked out, thats why I haven't updated yet.....but then again, the router is only in the next room not even 25ft away.....don't know if thats got anything to do with it...

Re: comcast cable and hdx streaming

I have the same experience with Brazil. Comcast 16+ MBPS down and can't maintain an HDX stream and sometimes not even a HD stream. I have gone back to Amadeus and downloads. No tweaks that were recommended by Vudu helped me either.
