    Vizio VF552XVT

I'm ready to buy a Vizio VF552XVT with integrated VUDU. I've had a VUDU set top box for a long time. Are there any issues I should know about? Thanks.

    Re: Vizio VF552XVT

I have one; the problem on it with Vudu is it does not output Dolby 5.1 audio like it's supposed to- for Vudu and Amazon VOD, it only outputs a PCM 2-channel downmix (it does output Dolby 5.1 from TV stations that broadcast it.) HDX doesn't work with my internet service either- it stops every few seconds to reload, but that may not be the TV's fault. It was mentioned on here a few weeks ago that the sound problem will be fixed with a firmware update, but as of now that hasn't happened yet.

This TV also has Netflix built in which I recently activated; Netflix isn't capable of delivering 5.1 sound but the TV is getting that in MONO! I've been trying to get that fixed as well, but neither Netflix nor Vizio seem to know whose problem that is.

        Re: Vizio VF552XVT

The problem has to do with the fact that the TV is currently failing to correctly downmix Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 to Dolby Digital 5.1 for output over the S/PDIF connection.

We are aware of this, and have been working with the manufacturer on a firmware update to fix the issue.

Thanks for the update. I think I'll get the non-internet apps version (VF551XVT) and keep my VUDU box for a while.

            Re: Vizio VF552XVT

I just bought the VF552XVT. Having the same 5.1 issue. Any idea when this will be fixed? Will the firmware download automatically or is there some sort of notification process?

              Re: Vizio VF552XVT

Any update on this from Vudu's perspective? It would seem pointless to rent/buy anything from Vudu if you aren't going to get what you paid for.

I posted something on vudus facebook page. They replied that they are aware of th problem and are working on a resolution. They will let us know when they have one. So basically, we're screwed...

                    Re: Vizio VF552XVT

I have the same TV since January and have had no issues. I am using a repeater bridge and plugging it in to the secondary router which is working well.

Nice! I'll give it a try this weekend. Are you sure you are getting the correct 5.1 channel output from the TV?

                        Re: Vizio VF552XVT

                        Unfortunately the problem still exists.

No Dolby 5.1 being output from the Vizio's Optical Jack.

Vudu - Anything further on this issue?!

                          Re: Vizio VF552XVT

I still haven't had any luck either. I have the SV472XVT. It will pass 5.1, just not 5.1 from the internet apps. Vudu, Vizio and Amazon all point the fingers at each other.

This is the response I got from Vudu's facebook page:

"VIZIO is working diligently on the issue and wants to release a solution ASAP. Understandably, VIZIO also wants to make sure the solution is well tested and stable before they release to everyone. We?re anticipating an update to fix this issue in July, but suggest that you contact VIZIO Support for official comment/dates ? viasupport@vizio.com."

I still have yet to receive any word from Vizio confirming or denying the update schedule...

I spoke with a third Vizio rep who finally confirmed that it does not output 5.1 from any of the internet apps. The rep indicated that there may be a firmware upgrade, but not to expect one anytime soon.
