    Re: Vizio VF552XVT

    Well, it's past July now and still nothing. Guess they really don't want me using it. (I'm still willing to give Vudu a chance despite the issue with Wal-Mart's removing 'unsuitable' titles, but not until it works the way it's supposed to!)

      @alan smithee

      Vizio is very aware of the problem, and hopefully it will be fixed soon. I will try to reach out to see if i can get a timeframe of when to expect a fix.

          Any updates? We are still waiting for this to be resolved one way or the other.

          Thanks.

            Re: Vizio VF552XVT

            So who's in charge of fixing this problem then- Vizio or Vudu or both? When I've let Vizio know about problems with the VOD apps (the 5.1 sound also doesn't work on Amazon, and Netflix plays in MONO!) they've told me the companies behind the apps are the ones who have to provide a fix for them. I'm just glad I got a deal on my TV and didn't pay extra for the VIA stuff- if they ever get it working right I'll check out a few movies, but sticking with my discs til then.

              Re: Vizio VF552XVT

              In this case it's Vizio's issue they create the firmware that controls the hardware on the device.

                Thanks to whoever FINALLY got this fixed! Watched "Hostel" tonight and the sound was great! Will have to upgrade my internet service to be able to watch HDX now. (Netflix got fixed too, but not Amazon.)

                  Re: Vizio VF552XVT

                  Can you confirm that you are outputting 5.1 through the digital out? Vudu says 5.1 on the screen, but I'm not picking up 5.1 out. If so, can you let us know your settings.

                  Thanks.

                    Re: Vizio VF552XVT

                    Vizio sent out a firmware upgrade, but they say it's only going to a number of TVs each day. If yours hasn't gotten it yet, just keep checking every day- when I powered mine on a message came up saying it was about to install a firmware update, then turned itself off for a few minutes then came back on. Also double-check the Audio settings on the TV- under "Advanced Audio" it should be set to "Dolby Digital", not "PCM".

                    Netflix is also finally getting 2-channel stereo instead of just the left channel, and there's a couple cool new apps too.

                      My friend that has the VF552XVT hasn't received the update either. I guess they are doing a sample upgrade to work out any issues that the new firmware may introduce.

                        For those interested, I can confirm the new firmware update adds 5.1 to both VUDU and Amazon through the optical out. Now to start renting some VUDU movies.

                            Did you set the tv to 5.1 in the audio settings and under Amazon's settings? If so, try playing the Superman Returns sample under Amazon settings. It doesn't register 5.1 from the screen, but it should output 5.1 to your receiver.
