    Vudu Purchase/Own Options

    In regards to their option to purchase the movie--is it only the movie? It seems that their prices are about the same as buying the actual disc complete with all bonus features not to mention a hard disc copy. I'm assuming a purchase from them is simply purchasing the file which you must then save to your device, in my case a Samsung 6500 blu-ray player.

    You are correct in that you are purchasing the "file" but on streaming devices the movie is stored in the cloud. It is my understanding that these movies can then be streamed to any Vudu streaming device that is linked to your account.
    So If I purchased a movie I could play it back on my Sammy BD player or the Vudu STB that I have running Brazil but not the one running Amadeus.
    The downside is that you don't get a physical disc that you can carry to a friends, or sell on ebay. The upside is you don't have a physical disc to get damaged and lost and for me I don't have to dig out a disc from the library to put in the player.
    I like the cloud based service. I had one of my hard drives fail on my PC while I was in the process of backing it up and lost several hundred dollars worth of iTunes videos. But my videos bought through Amazon are safe. I am still hoping that any purchases I made through Amadeus will be transferable to Brazil because I am now fearful my Vudu HDDs will fail and I will be out even more.
    It seems like a bad deal to some to not get a disc with special features and for some movies I just have to have the BD but there are others that it is great to be able to pull up the Vudu library and rent or my personal library and watch without leaving the couch (man do I sound lazy). Vudu did add special features to the Avatar release that can be viewed for free one segment is exclusive to Vudu. (Man I am long winded)

      And as we've seen, purchased titles can be removed from the system at any time for any reason. If they're feeling nice they will give you a credit or refund.
