    Tried Transition to Streaming/Failed

I have 5 Vudu STBs and have been using them happily for over 2 years. I thought I'd give the future a try and start phasing in a streaming device (Samsung BD-C6500). What a disaster. Vudu usually comes up (though sometimes I get some "CURL" error and it doesn't), I can't watch any movies or previews. I keep getting a message that it can't be streamed now and to try later (not very informative or helpful). Beyond that, the UI freezes occasionally and I have to power cycle and the artwork takes like a minute after the app loads to show.

I thought it might be the fact that I was using powerline ethernet adapters, though I have been able to watch HD instantly from that location on my STB. So I tried switching to wireless and finally hardwired into my router. I still get the same issue.

I have Comcast 50/10 and have tons of things (including the 5 Vudus) working on my network without any issues so I don't believe it's a capacity issue. Any ideas? This is very frustrating (maybe more so because I've been with Vudu since pretty nearly day 1) and this is my first really bad experience.

Ok, So I can watch movies sometimes. If I get the error and keep retrying, it seems like within 5 tries it works. When it does work I see full bars for HDX. That's still probably too frustrating to accept it as a replacement for my STB. Any thoughts or ideas?

Have you checked to make sure you firmware is up to date? I think that Samsung had a April 15th firmware update for this player.

Shortly after I turned it on the first time it did a firmware update, so I assume it's up to date. Any reason to believe the LG would work better?

You may want to also try a static IP address along with DNS's settings that are not your router's. Try these:

          Primary: 4.2.2.2
          Secondary: 4.2.2.1

I made those changes and it works much better. I'm not sure whether it was the IP or the DNS but hopefully it will keep working well. Thanks Ron.

Actually it worked so well that I went out and got a second one. I'll probably get a 3rd, leaving only 2 original STBs. One is at my dad's house (next door but on my network) and the other will be in the workout room and be the one my wife downloads movies on when she takes it on trips. The 3 decommissioned boxes I guess will be spares, until they become obsolete.

I must say, I like the idea of instant download HDX, and the fact that movies you buy can be watched on any of the streaming boxes (or so I seem to recall). I also really like just having a regular infrared remote with normal directional control buttons, etc. I never really warmed to the "award winning" original remote, lol.
