    Jumpy/Unwatchable "Bounty Hunter" in HDX/HD

What the heck is going on with the encodings? We tried to watch Bounty Hunter on my friend's new Sharp Aquos LED TV and LG BD-590 in HDX and it was completely unwatchable. We switched to HD and it was still unwatchable. The video looked like it was going at 10-15 FPS in places. It worked fairly normally in SD but the experience overall was unacceptable.

We thought it might be a quirk with her TV so I came home and tried the movie on my TV and LG Bluray player and it was exactly the same. I believe there was a similar problem on Hot Tub Time Machine and the movie was pulled for re-encoding. This has to stop. People won't give 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances with all the other options popping up these days. Please figure out what is wrong with the current process.

I am beginning to wonder too, I tried both Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers, and Return of the King, same thing, low frame rate.....I was going to watch The Bounty Hunter, so I'm glad for the heads up......I did call VUDU support and to their credit they refunded the rental price.....I checked a few days later and the same trouble existed with both Lord of the Rings movies.......I seem to be coming across more bad encodes, I hope VUDU will rectify this....I have been a VUDU customer almost since the beginning, they seem to be changing things for the better in some respects, not so much in others.......They have to realize there is more competition out there now than in the beginning, with Netflix, Blockbuster VOD, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. breathing down their necks, they will have to provide a premium, 1st class service if they want to survive...

I was happy when Walmart got them, I thought it would improve things big-time, some of what I am seeing lately doesn't reflect that...I will continue to see how things evolve with the other services, but I hope Walmart/VUDU will get serious and do what is necessary to keep me as a customer......

I feel the same way. I have been around since the original Vudu boxes went on sale. I migrated to the streaming devices a few months ago and generally like the direction it seems to be going in. But convincing people to go with Vudu and have them then tell me that the Vudu movies don't play properly is frustrating and upsetting for both them and me. I hope this is just some sort of transitional issue that will get resolved very quickly. Who knows though.

As I said, to be fair, there are some positive things that they have done....They could have stopped supporting the STB's, they chose not to, and migrated us to the streaming software known as Brazil.....For me, the ability to own Avatar and The Hurt Locker in HDX was huge, as I collect blockbuster movies....The gradual additions of features in Brazil, changing interface, migrating movies to the cloud are all good things. That said, I was looking for some exciting things to be happening since the Walmart acquisition.....I hope that comes to pass....

If I could throw in a wish list, I would like to see local storage using an external hard drive...Just for cases where the internet connection fails, or someone doesn't have a fast enough connection, one could still have access to their movies. I know downloading is a function provided in Brazil... I read on the forum VUDU is working on allowing the licenses of movies In Amadeus to be transferred to Brazil....I think this will be a great thing....The last thing I would like is the ability to upgrade movies to a higher resolution, I have a few Paramount movies that were purchased a few months ago in SD an now Paramount is allowing them for purchase in HDX....If I was allowed I would upgrade in a heartbeat......

Redwin did you contact VUDU support directly with video quality issue? If its that bad, (I haven't rented it yet to know), then giving them a phone call or direct message from the support web site would alert them of the problem and allow them to pull the movie for quality purposes.

I haven't contacted customer support directly. I will try to send an email this evening.

Add me to the list of people having problems with this movie. It got so bad I had to change to SD just to watch the movie. I did email VUDU and advised them of the problem.

Update: I was notified by VUDU customer support that this is a known issue and I received credit for the movie. As far as I am concerned this was great customer support.

I contacted customer support over a streaming issue over a week ago, and haven't heard from them yet.

So they are refunding the money but not fixing the movie?

I am sure they are going to fix the movie, they did it with Hot Tub Time Machine.

I did forward back to them the autoresponse I received when I submitted the inquiry and ask for more information, but I still have not received a response. If I have the time I might call, but other than that, I'm not sure what else to do.
