I love the old B&W movies. The Head that Wouldn't die was a great MST3K episode. There are podcasts of some old movies also:

I watched some vampire flick a few days ago while traveling to Minneapolis on my Zune. I am not a fan of the "small" screen but with B movies nothing can make them any better.

Now that Apple joined Amazon in giving promo-prices on some rentals, perhaps Vudu will join them in offering promos for new/relatively new titles.

ditto for TimeWarner.... in fact this is also their HD.

I noticed with some regret that I had some Vudu movies in my rental queue that are now available much cheaper on TW.

Maybe this is enough reason to just wait until you want to watch a movie to rent it. Then you could take better advantage of the VOD capabilities and get the best price available at the time. That is unless you plan to disconnect the box and take it somewhere.

Re: More Competitive Pricing to Come?

ANd to be clear. If I rent/purchase a title, As long as the entire title is downloaded, I can take the box with me to a location without internet access and still watch it?
Is there any kind of notice that tells you a rental has been completely downloaded without having to start playing it? Once I start playing it the clock is ticking. If I take the box somewhere I want to make sure the rental has been downloaded completely before disconnecting the VUDU.

I plan on taking my box to my girlfriends periodically and will want to have some titles downloaded before I go over there. I don't have an internet connection in her basement, and evn if I do set up wireless or powerline access for the VUDU, her connection is a paltry 768kbs. And the worse thing is that she could get FIOS if she wanted to, but she is sticking with her DSL for $15 a month. One day I'll convince her, but it took me over 5 years to convince her to get a TiVo.

Re: More Competitive Pricing to Come?

Yes. If you have a title completely downloaded, then you don't need an internet connection.

There's no real way to tell if it's downloaded. Just know that it takes just a little less than the run time of the movie to download it. We've had a download progress indicator on the feature request list for a while now. There's higher priority and more demanded features being worked on first though.
