    VUDU on the Roku Player

    I am glad to see VUDU coming to the PS3; similarly, I would love to see this outstanding service show up as a channel on the Roku player.

      Absolutely. As Vudu looks to increase its presence on streaming capable devices, the Roku player would seem to be a natural fit. Having Netflix, Amazon VoD, Hulu Plus and Vudu on one device would be great!

          To tell you the truth it all depends if the hardware is compatible. (meaning is there enough muscle under the hood to support 1080p)

            ROKU XDS FOR GOD SAKES! BOXEE is nice if you ever get it out but ROKU is the defacto system just needs VUDU come on I have money to spend!

                Piling on. Vudu for the Roku XD and XDS, please. Both support 1080p, so Vudu's SD, HD, and HDX formats are fine.

                I have Vudu on my LG Blu-ray player, but that's already relegated to kid duty. It's the streaming live (and active app development) for me.

                While developing only for the XD and XDS might seem limited, you can pretty much guarantee even future low-end Roku models will support 1080p as a default.

                  I'm bumping this up with support.

                  Please add a Vudu channel to the Roku player/s.

                  I have nothing but problems getting Vudu to work on my PS3 Slim, but every channel on the Roku works flawlessly. Right now I'm spending money on 720p movies from Amazon VOD that I'd rather be spending on 1080p movies from Vudu.

                  Roku says they're all for it, but it's up to you guys.

                        Asked on the Vudu Facebook page and they said they said there were no plans to put Vudu on the Roku boxes.

                        Very disappointing. My PS3 Slim is terrible for Vudu (terrible for network streaming, full stop), but my Roku runs like a dream.

                        Not sure why Vudu would partner with Boxee, but not with established companies like Roku or WD, who already have hundreds of thousands of owners just waiting for 1080p content.

                        Who knows how these things work, but I'll just stick to Amazon Instant Video until they change their mind.

                          We want VuDu on the Roku boxes and need to continue requesting it. I sent an email to support formally asking the team to work with Roku and make it available. Squeaking wheels get grease, last time I checked.

                            Forgot to mention: perhaps the major reason Vudu is resisting (yes, they are) making their app available on Roku is that until February 2010 they were making their own device (a competitor to Roku) that failed to gain traction and was discontinued. Some of the Vudu management may harbor resentment towards Roku for being successful where their own product failed.

                            This is just speculation of course. You do your own research and make your own decisions on this.

                              I would also love to have VUDU available on Roku.

                              Vudu, Netflix has presented you an awesome advantage with the recent rate increases. I'm shopping around and VUDU would be a perfect substitute IF I could get it on my Roku player - we have 5 players and don't like to tie up the PC's.
