Why should I use VUDU instead of Netflix?

Why should I use VUDU instead of Netflix? Netflix gives me a one time montly fee whereby I can download unlimited movies and tv shows or have flicks delivered to me as often as I wish. The fees range between $8-19 per month
I really don't care about being able to see movies as soon as they come out, there are plenty of flicks out there to keep me busy.

VUDU on the other hand does not offer a monthly option and I have to pay for each movie I want to view. VUDU also charges more money based upon the quality of the video - I thnik that is pretty lame.

For example - in January alone (via Netflix) I viewed three movies and several tv shows all for $8 and the month is only half over.

If I did the same thing with VUDU I would be charged anyway between $15-$20 depending on the "video quality" I choose.

So I'll ask again, why should I switch to VUDU?

The beauty part of the whole situation is you don't HAVE to switch; you can use both, as I do. Say I want to watch a particular movie that netflix doesn't have and perhaps vudu does. BOOM you can watch it on Vudu. Since they don't have a monthly charge, if you don't use it you don't get charged. I've been using Vudu for a few years now and I don't watch a lot of movies, but when I do it's usually worth it.

I also use NetFlixs but I do enjoy a casual use of Vudu due to higher viewing quaility choice vs just Dobey 5.1... What I enjoy the most is the podcasts due to non-commericals. I have my fingers crossed that Vudu will also enter into the g-tablet apps. Now that would be way

Netflix and VUDU compliment each other. Neither one could replace the other.

I just bought a new LG LCD 46" that came with Netcast and It offers Netflix, VUDO and another Cinema. I used Netlix and I was not too thrilled with the quality of the Sound (Stereo) that is. But I agree with you. I like to watch old movies, old show, foreign movies and also newer movies that are streamed online. Netflix is a bargain for the low monthly price and I hope they would not raise it to a much higher price as they try to move away from CD rental to mainly online streaming. I just hope they can provide HD 1080p and Dolby Surround 5.1 and that would be awesome.
On the other hand, I watch a free movie offered for first timer from VUDU and I have to say even its a little pricey but the quality of Sound and Picture is amazing and I have to say is much better than some Blue Ray DVD'S. But like someone mentioned you just watch it when you want to see a new movie once in a while, its not an everyday thing for sure.
The reason I will not sing up for VUDU is I have some concerns regarding the Peer to Peer bandwidth sharing and other personal information that might get out while using the service. I think prior to signing up you should read the Terms and disclosure.

We are not using Peer to Peer. P2p was only used for our own VUDU boxes. Not for our streaming solution on TV's and BD Players.

Can someone help me understand why I am able to stream HD from Netflix and can only get SD from VUDU. I only have a 1.3m cable connection but the Netflix stream works fine. If I try HD via VUDU it continues to pause to rebuffer. I am using an LG BD590 player. Thx!

                Hey,

Do you mean 1.3Mbps (M *bits* per second) or 1.3 MB/s (M bytes per second, ie 10.4Mbps)?

For reference, our SD is 1.0-2.0Mbps, 720p HD is 2.25-4.5Mbps, and 1080p HDX is 4.5-9Mbps. I believe Netflix HD is 2.2-3.8Mbps at 720p.

If you have ~10Mbps, you should be able to get HD on Vudu, but 1.3Mbps would barely work with SD. Could you run the bandwidth test in the Settings and see what you get?
