No help after 14 hours on phone w vudu

I've wasted 2 weeks of my life with one of ur techs. I gt road runner extreme for one reason. VUDU. I have 22 mpbs. Yet buffeting all time w hdx. I send her tracer and tracers. After weeks of hours of my time and aggravation. U know what her answer was?sorry tough luck. Lmao. She said time Warner would have change dns server on my modem. Lol. Sure ok lady. She says I'm in new York yet getting your Chicago server so I'm buffering. What????I have watched things from China with no buffering. So Chicago. So what about people in a place who have to use a VUDU server far away. They are out of luck?oh so only people right nxt door to a VUDU server can watch hdx movies?what what??????helpppppppppppppp. Mike stahl

Yes streaming video requires the DNS service to find the right route to the source material that VUDU streams. If your ISP is interfering with this process then yes the streaming will have issues.

From what I understand is that you are using the router that the Road Runner service provided? They control the "provisioning" of this router and do not allow the updating of the DNS servers that are part of their service.

One possible solution is to setup your own router behind their router and set their router up as a DMZ so your router is now the gateway for your home devices. In your own router you can setup any DNS you want, OpenDNS, Google DNS, etc. This still may not solve the issue because some configurations of provisioned routers may have turned on what is called "DNS Capture" which will intercept the call to DNS and used their preferred DNS.

Personally I am a AT&T U-verse customer and I run my own router behind their "Residential Gateway" bypassing all their provisioning and they don't do DNS Capture. My DNS is setup to use OpenDNS at this time.
