Interesting how it's now being named VuduTV! I wonder if 1.4 is going to have increased TV content or capabilities? Ed, how'd you get this, man. I think I'm still testing 1.3.5...

Well, this way the phrase "without 'U' it's just VD" can't be used. So perhaps that's why. It's probably due to some wiseacre thinking that up so they are changing the name.

                    Just found this:

"Liberty Media Corp. is on the verge of gaining majority control of DirecTV Group Inc., boosting its stake to 48% after buying nearly $2 billion of the satellite-television provider's stock.

Liberty Media obtained a 41% stake in late February through an asset swap with News Corp., which owns The Wall Street Journal."

I heard Liberty Media will be changing the name to InDirecTV, and possibly ITV !!

Some day we're gonna run out the alphabet. I mean what's next... MTV ?? Oh.... never mind.

Hmm... looking at the model number for the WD drive, it appears to be a 320GB model as opposed to 250GB that regular boxes have. I guess, this is what y'all get for being beta testers.

Hmm...My standard box is a production box. Maybe Ed got something special? Our early Alpha boxes had 300 Gig drives in them but they backed them down to 250. So who knows...

I kinda wish Vudu would let us mod boxes with our own HDDs and just re-install the system software and encrypt it (like Sony's PS3 drive). You can get a 1TB drive for under $200 these days (Best Buy has one on sale for $190).

Well, hopefully, external storage is going to eliminate that desire! But it's not released yet...

                              Re: VUDU Version 1.4 Sighting

My external drive is all ready in the enclosure someone recommended a couple of months ago. I picked up a few 750GB WD green drives from Newegg for $130 each shipped and stuck one in the enclosure. At $130 for 750GB it's a much lower cost per GB than the 500GB or 1TB drives green drives.
And the drives are defintely fast enough. I transferred over 650GB of data from the enclosure to another drive and it averaged around 480mbs(60MBs)transfer rate the entire time. So as soon as the software comes out that enables external storage I'm all ready for it.
